Previous C/S with GD and Preclampsia.

Thread Starter

When I had my D/S, I wanted a natural birth, but I was HUGE. I just plain ate too much! I had GD (had to take insulin even with very controlled diet) and Preclampsia. I was induced and ended up with a C/S. He was 10lbs 9.5oz... Afterwards I was prediebetic.

I have been working on my weight and exercising and seeing results. I don't know for sure yet but I think I am no longer prediabetic. DH and I have now decided in a few months to start ttc. Any other tips besides losing weight to encourage a successful vbac? Would really appreciate any advice. :-)

I would schedule an appt with a midwife for preconception counseling.

Maybe creating a document of your diet as well as if your monitoring your blood sugar levels.

Here are some good resources:

Congrats and losing weight and exercising - those are 2 great ways to decrease your risk of GD. I agree with the previous poster that a pre-conception appointment would not be a bad idea. Do you still have the blood glucose meter you used with your previous pregnancy? If I were you I would go ahead and check and chart some numbers (maybe a week's worth) before the appointment.

I advise all VBAC hopeful to check out ICAN. Alot of great info on their site, even if you don't have a local chapter.

Good luck!!
