Cord question

Hi mamas,

My 2.5 week's cord stump is oozing a tiny bit. It was oozing spots of brown blood and now it's this clear stuff.  It's also fixin to fall off, but is held on by this small, string thing.

It's not red, inflamed or otherwise infected, so what's up with the oozing?  How can I treat it?

Julia's did this and we just left it alone. Hers fell off pretty quickly though, she was only 3 or 4 days old. Just watch for thick yellow or green discharge or a really bad odor.

Well, there's no odor, but the discharge looks thick, but I'm not sure of the color yet.  It's really hard to see or get at, as they really messed her belly button up.  I'll post a picture.

Yeah, that's how Julia's looked. It continued to have the blood and discharge for about a week after it fell off, too. We asked at the pediatrician if that was normal and she said yes. The discharge was pretty clear but when it dried it looked more yellowish like in your pic.
