My son has an allergy to dust mites and has not been diagnosed with asthma, but all signs are pointing to cough variant. His main symptom is coughing- during illness, weather change, etc. He is on singulair daily- it has really helped. Before every cold would go straight to his lungs and we have not had that issue since starting. For the most part he is not affected by these issues.
Friday night we stayed out late with friends and played outside- he started coughing Sat a.m. and it has just gotten worse since then. Dry, unproductive, hack. What I am most worried about is that he does not seems to be responding to the inhaler as well. He for the most part always has in the past. Late last night I called the nurse line as it was bad and she had me give him the inhaler every 3 hours. My concern is that he is not properly able to do the inhaler- especially when half asleep! It's rough to even get him to do it correctly when he is awake! I have put a call into the ped. for a nebulizer. In the past, when I have asked about it, they claim that the inhaler is just as good, blah, blah blah.
Momma's any words of wisdom, pointers, etc. Appreciate all of you.
