Lactation Consultant Certification

Thread Starter

Hi- I am considering becoming a Board Certified Lactation Consultant.  There are several places that seem to have online trainings.  Anyone ever taken one of these or know someone who has?  The ones I am looking into are all approved by the Accreditation and Approval Review Committee (AARC) on Education in Human Lactation and Breastfeeding which seems to be what matters.  They vary a lot in cost and training hours/courses so I'd love to hear from someone who has taken one or has some insight into what I should be looking for...

Thanks in advance :)

Which pathway are you planning to use to qualify for the exam?  Are you looking for clinical experience, background education, or lactation specific education?

There's a yahoo group you might want to check out for IBCLCs to be:

Best wishes!

I know someone who took the courses at http://www.health-e-learning.com/ and she highly recommends them.

Even though as of next year I am no longer eligible to sit for the IBCLC exam (I am a trained breastfeeding counsellor but have no medical background), I am planning to take the courses through them at some point as I will need to stay current.

Good luck!
