Nonstick "grill" stinks when heated

Is that normal, or is it a sign that I should toss it? It's one of those George Foreman type grills, kwim? It smells like chemicals or something when it's heating up. There aren't many scratches in it, and no major ones, but it's probably about 7-8 years old.

I won't be too sad about tossing it- it takes up room that could be used for something else, and even though it makes cooking easier, the clean up probably negates that anyways. But still, I like some things cooked on it.

Is it toxic?

Short answer - yes it is. I'd toss it and not replace it (or replace it with CI).

Yes, I'd toss that thing and buy a cast iron grill pan.
