What's the point in testing?

I'm really not trying to sound rude in any way but really just trying to understand.   It seems like the rate of false positive/false negative is so high that it makes any results questionable at best.  Do you just use it as a starting point and them eliminate foods and watch for improvement?  Why choose to test and why choose a particular test?

If you are at a total loss (I did 2 different elimination diets with no results) it can be helpful.  Once we tested and removed all the things from DS diet and mine as well, he was sleeping through the night in 3 days as well as some other improvements.

Testing just to test is casting a really wide net that is pretty useless.  I think there are foods we didn't need to be off of because of that but it gave us a jumping off point to start.

Testing if frustrating because of the false +'s but you have to start somewhere.
