I've read that the drooling actually has a lot to do with when the salivary glands mature... I've noticed my baby never drooled until about three weeks ago, then suddenly she started doing it, but only sometimes (moreso in the evenings for no reason I can think of) and not a ton, thank goodness.

WOW! My full term baby is 13.5 pounds and she is EBF! Good job boobie juice!

DS has been drooling like crazy too, so bad that some days I put a bib on him because his shirts get soaked.  I remember DD going through a drooling phase too and she didn't cut her first teeth until she was almost a year old.  I don't look forward to teeth coming in AT ALL!  I remember when DD started teething and started biting while nursing.  YOUCH!  It was very painful and she ended up weaning not long after.

DS is getting huge, not sure how much he weighs but we'll find out when he goes in for his 4 month WBV on the 9th.  He feels soooo heavy to me and has outgrown so many clothes and diapers.  He's already fitting into Thirsties Duo Diapers size two which are supposed to be 9-36 months/18-40 lbs!  I don't think he's 18 lbs just yet but he can fit into them already.  He's solidly wearing 6-9 month clothes and already outgrowing some size 6 month.  DD was such a tiny baby its funny how complete opposites they are on their growth!

DS also has started rolling over.  He did it for the first time a few weeks ago, and continued to do it all day every time I placed him on his belly.  Then he wouldn't do it again until just a few days ago, now he's suddenly an expert.  It's kind of funny, it was like he did it and then forgot because he kept trying and would get really mad when he couldn't get himself turned over.

He's also a really happy baby these days, cooing and smiling all the time.  We even got him off of his reflux meds about 2 weeks ago!  I missed a dose one afternoon and decided to skip the evening one too and see how it went.  He seemed fine so we just stopped giving it to him completely and he's doing greatbiggrinbounce.gif

So I had some clear ovarian pain tonight, first time I have felt anything like this since I was 7 weeks preggo...... Hmm is this a first PP cycle? We had unprotected sex yesterday, so im not sure how i feel about this. I could just see us getting knocked up on our first PP cycle after taking 29cycles the first time. In reality it's silly I'm even pondering it.
Strangely enough today is also the exact one year anniversary of when I O'd when I got preggo with my twins! It's there LifeDay , like a birthday but today they have been alive for one year, inside and out!

so happy LifeDay little ones!

I took DS in for his 4 month WBV and he is already up to 14 lbs 3.2 oz!  Such a big boy, I just can't believe how chunky he's getting on mama's milk alone!

How is everyone doing with their LO's?

I know this is a pretty touchy subject around here sometimes but has anyone thought about solids?  With DD we waited until she was 6 months old and introduced her to banana and avocado first.  We then started with other fruits and veggies and gave her baby oatmeal for breakfast a lot of days.  Our new ped brought up starting DS on rice cereal soon and would like to see him on several tablespoons a day plus some fruits and veggies before our 6 month WBV.  I knew this ped wasn't as crunchy as our last but I was pretty disappointed that he brought up rice cereal at 4 months old irked.gif  He did mention that it might help with DS's reflux which he still has but has gotten much better and we even stopped his meds.  Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are about starting him on some oatmeal cereal - would it really help with the reflux and spitting up?

My DS was 18.5 lbs at his 4 month WBV and EBF. He'll be 5 months on the 10th and I'm not ready to start solids yet. I want to wait until he's more interested in food (I wear him a lot while I'm eating and he doesn't seem interested yet) and I CD so I want to keep the EBF poop for as long as possible! He had bad reflux for a couple months but he seemed to grow out of it around 3 months so we stopped his meds then. If he's doing okay now I wouldn't let that sway your decision of when to start solids. As long as your DS is gaining I'm sure it's fine to wait until closer to 6 mos.

How are your LOs doing on their milestones? Mine seems on schedule for everything except rolling over and I'm worried I might be holding and wearing him too much and possibly delaying him. Is that even possible? He gets floor time every day (tummy for a few minutes then back so he can bat at hanging objects) but so far he will only roll from back to side. My local mom friends are acting like he should be totally rolling over by now since he'll be 5 months next week.

We are doing well.  Micah is trying to roll over and looks so proud of himself when he gets to his side and grabs a toy.  He is also really close to being able to sit on his own.  He is a very smiley baby and we are getting laughs all the time.  I love this age!

He was sleeping well for a while, but it all went downhill a few weeks ago when he caught yet another cold and ended up on steroids which made him cranky, hungry, and an insomniac.  *sigh*  We were getting back to sleeping well when he caught a cold *again!* and he is actually on O2 at home now.  His doctor gave us a choice of going into the hospital or having him on oxygen at home.  Pretty easy choice IMO.  I'm hoping we can get this under control so we don't have to worry so much about colds next winter.

Other than his lungs being weak, he is doing really well.  Nursing is still going well for the most part.  I was about to throw in the towel a few weeks ago because I had a milk blister (yeouch!) that coincided with him wanting to eat all the time.  We worked through it though and it seems to be healed up in time for this upcoming nursing marathon due to the steroids.

I am still just so in love with this little guy.  I am so blessed he is part of our family.

Lituya is 5 months now, 15lb 13oz and 25.5 inches at her checkup the other day.  Her favorite thing is her doorway jumper swing.  She bounces and bounces and bounces, and her brother brings her toys to play with.  Actually, her big brother is her favorite thing.  She is working on trying to sit by herself, but still topples after not very long.  She's been able to roll over for awhile, but only likes to roll back to tummy (learned tummy to back first, but never does it).  She's a super happy fairly easy baby - and I know it's completely unfair since her big brother was also an easy baby.

LM96 - sounds tough!  I hope he's all better soon.

somamama - I doubt you can delay a baby in any significant way.  They'll do the things sooner that they practice most, but it's mostly their own personality that drives what they want to work on, I think.  Unless you're totally stopping him from using his body when he wants to.

Thanks mckittre! I don't think I'm actually stopping him from anything so we're probably doing just fine. He can roll to his side all day long and today I gave him the tiniest nudge and he rolled all the way over so I think he's almost there. He can sit for about a minute leaning on his hands for support.

LM96 - I've had a milk blister for almost 2 months! It goes away for a couple days every once in a while but always comes back. I just nurse through it and try to keep him latched on correctly but damn do these things hurt! I should probably make an appt at the LLC at my ped's office soon just to see what is going on. So far i've just dealt with it since it's not bleeding or infected or causing blockage or anything.

Cool somamama!

Anybody else have a super fussy baby these days? Ugh, its killing me! I know he's teething, but man....

Stats: 16.13lbs, 27in. He was rolling, hmmm, but I haven't seen him do iy in a while. Can sit for a little bit, hates being in the car, will only fall asleep for Dada, except at night when he's next to me....

LOVE this little man!

Somamama--that was the first time I seriously considered quitting breastfeeding.  I think the main thing that kept me going was that I couldn't stop cold turkey so I was going to have to deal with the pain no matter what.  I have never had that much pain while nursing (even the early days).  I hope you are able to clear it soon!  As to milestones, I'm not even paying attention to them this time around--LOL!  He is progressing so I'm content right now.  His ped is happy with his progress, so I'm not worried.  He is almost rolling over (back to front) and almost sitting.  He grabs and bats at toys and smiles a lot.

Naturalmama311--my ped mentioned solids at our last checkup (which was technically our 6 month checkup since my LO was 2 months early) but didn't push at all.  She is very supportive of breast feeding and said that she would like him to get the majority of his nutrition from milk until he is at least a year old anyway.  Micah is just starting to show some interest, but I figure I will wait until he is trying to grab food off my plate.  :)

Adorkable--I had some pretty severe ovarian pain a few months ago and I thought it was AF starting, but it never amounted to anything.  I'm still waiting--which is fine with me!

MPsSweetie - Sorry your bubs is fussy. Mine has been putting everything in sight in his mouth for months and drooling like crazy but no sign of teeth yet. Are you doing any teething drops or maybe a frozen washcloth? I've had an amber necklace on my guy since he was about 6 weeks old (for reflux) and he's rarely fussy even when he gets his shots. Maybe try one of those?

No AF here! Not at all looking forward to her return. Actually, I'm a little afraid!

I've been looking at amber teething necklaces for months, time to just buy one!

MPsSweetie - Just curious what made you name your DS Abbott? Family name?

In other news, Miles rolled over today!! Back to front. Took him a little while to get all the way over but he did it. So proud of the little bugger.
