DD is 4 months & 2 weeks. She  was born 6 lb 8 oz and is now over 15 lb. Don't know the rest of Jan babies secret.... but DD's secret is nurse, nurse, nurse, nurse, and then  sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep! I swear she is attached to my boob every hour or so during the day and then sleeps 12 hours at night! If I could read her thoughts I think it's like .. "grow, grow, grow, grow!" lol.gif

DD ROLLED OVER! orngbiggrin.gif

Very excited. I can't even remember how old DS was the first time he rolled over.. I think just about 5 months. DD is 4 months 2 weeks and rolled over belly to back twice today. I was very surprised and impressed considering how little time she really spends on her belly (usually I'm wearing her or she's playing, sleeping, or nursing on her side or back).

We skipped the 4 month WBV... not really intentionally, but we moved as she turned 4 months.. and I was able to get her in with the integrative pediatrician I wanted! biggrinbounce.gif But the first availability wasn't until the day she turns 6 months. I've been trying to decide whether to continue delaying vaccines....... guess the world decided for us.

We just like A names. I had a few others, then mentioned Abbott. Dh didn't say anything so I forgot about it, then weeks later he woke me up and said "Abbott Jefferson" and that was it!

I thought he was a big baby at almost 17 lbs.... Until today when I met a 27.5lb six month old... Now THAT baby was big, lol
post #45 of 68

My daughter is around 16lbs and I think her secret is a head start - she was born at nearly 10lb, and has actually been gaining fairly slowly after that.  I can't believe the 27.5lb 6 month old.  My 28 month old isn't nearly that heavy!

anjsmama - rolling over is fun.  Both of mine have gone through a phase, shortly after learning to roll, of rolling obsessively (back to belly) every time they're put down.  Lituya is at the tail end of that now.

Mine has rolled once or twice from belly to back over a month ago and then once from back to belly last week but won't do it again! I'm excited for him to start his roly poly phase.

Yeah, I thought I had a big guy but 26.5# 6 mo old is crazy!! DS has been 95% since birth but it looks like he'll be closer to 22# at 6 months if he keeps it up.

Yes, she was huge. I couldn't believe it myself.

Abbott rolled for a while, but has seemed to stop lately. Hmmmm...

DS has a tooth! 2 actually, they cut through 1 day apart from each other this past week, he was 24 weeks old.  he took the whole thing like a champ, we wee thinking he was a touch fussy this last week, but we have been staying with family after a death, so i attributed it to that. in hind sight if that is how he acts while 2 teeth cut through, that's amazingly calm!!!

my little girl must be close behind, she is freaking out, including fevers and talking in her sleep. but still no sign of the chompers.

I'm happy to see him do something first, she has consistently been hitting physical milestones despite him being 3 pounds or more bigger now.

i cant believe my babies turn 6 months on monday!!

We just got back from Miles' 6 month checkup. He's still 95% so the dr says he's the size of a normal 10 month old! (21.5 lbs and 28.5").

He's rolling over both ways now, sitting up pretty good and his first tooth poked through on the 8th. He's always been really vocal but he's clearly said MAMA and DADA so far (even though I know he doesn't think they're our names yet). He's also saying BUBUBUBU which is funny because we call him bubba a lot.

I can't believe 6 months has already gone by! It was so fast!!

Kyle weighed in at 16 lbs 9.6 ounces and was 24.5 inches.  He's really low on the charts for height (I think 5th percentile) and 35th percentile for weight.  DH and I are both fairly short so we don't expect our kids to be very tall!  Lol

He CAN roll both ways but doesn't do it very often.  He only seems to roll when he wants to get to his big sister.  He's sitting completely unassissted now so he'd much rather be sitting up than lying down anyway.  He discovered his feet not too long ago and is slightly obsessed with them!  He wakes up in the middle of the night and just plays with his feet, rolling from side to side with his feet in his hands.  Apparently they taste really yummy toobiglaugh.gif

His favorite thing is his big sister, she gets more laughs and smiles than me and DH.  He watches everything she does and follows her with her eyes wherever she goes.  She loves him too but we'll see how long that lasts!

We've started him on solids, so far he's had applesauce, pears, sweet potato and squash.  I love making baby food, I forgot how much fun it was!  Today I gave him some prunes because he hasn't been pooping too great so I'm hoping that will speed things up for him!

I can't believe our babies are 6 months old already!  I remember when DD was a baby I couldn't wait for her to sit up, to crawl, to walk, to talk.  Now with Kyle I just can't believe how fast things are going.

My little guy was 17 lbs 9 oz and 28 inches at his 6 mos check up on Monday. He's 52 percentile for weight and 93 for height.  He rolls easily both ways, sits up pretty well now, and just got his first tooth!  Time has flown.  I go back to work at the end of August and am so sad to be ending my time at home with him though I know I've been very lucky to have had this much time.

We go Tuesday for our 6 month checkup.  I'm guessing he's around 16lb, maybe 17.  He's such a different baby than my first two!  He does things SOOOO early!  He sat at 5 months (other two sat at 7), started army crawling (pulling himself along on his belly using his arms and kind of his toes) at 5 months (other two did it at 8!), started pushing from the hands and knees position to sitting just a few days ago (at 6 months), and just three days ago he was sitting in his crib, grabbed ahold of the rail and pulled himself up to stand!!!jaw.gif  The other two did this at 10 months!  I was SHOCKED!  Time to lower the mattress!  He was so darn proud of himself too!

We started recently giving him solids and he's pretty into it.  He still wakes 1-3 times a night, and takes 2 naps a day.  No teeth yet (my other two were at 13 months and 10 months for first teeth), which is good,  because he has a BAD habit of clamping his jaws down HARD on my nipple and it HURTS!  Hopefully the teeth stay away for awhile, or I'll end up with some serious problems.  I can't believe it's been 6 months already... the time is flying.  I want it to slow down, as Gavin is my last baby and I want to enjoy the baby stage for awhile longer.

hi all~ i'm new to this site & wish i would've found it earlier!  my dd was born jan 29th- i can't believe she's almost 6 mo old already!  she's my 1st baby and i am still so overwhelmed by how much i love her.  i've never experienced anything so beautiful and amazing- and exhausting!  :)  i have a small daycare in my home and i thought having a baby would be something like having a 24-7 daycare child but it is really nothing like that!

is anyone else dealing with heat rash?  i don't know what to do to get rid of it- online the best thing i found says to keep it cool.  well we've been having 95 degree days and we don't have air conditioning so that isn't much of a possibility!

i see that a lot of your babies are rolling over- elliana is only going from belly to back (she's been doing that since like 3 months) but only gets to her side from her back.  it's funny because she isn't rolling over or sitting up yet, but she is scooting herself backwards several feet across the floor!  it still always surprises me when i put her on her little mat and come back to find her 2 feet away from it!  i guess i better get used to the fact that my immobile days are very limited!

Welcome! I wish I had found this site earlier, too. :)

DS has gotten heat rash pretty bad in the creases of his neck and legs but I've gotten it to go away by wiping it with water and drying it really well then putting corn starch (I don't use commercial baby powder, I put about a cup of corn starch in an old trouser sock (like knee high panty hose) and just use that) on it. Depending on where the rash is you can also use whatever you use for diaper rash.

My DD is doing things SO much earlier than my DS as well. She'll be 6 months Thursday - goes for her check up Wednesday. She's a big girl though... about 19.5 lb! She is sitting really well independently and has started eating potatoes and apples and eggs really well (and we're using BLW, so she's doing it without assistance). I think she's also scary close to pulling to stand.. luckily she doesn't crawl well/much or else I think she would. She's started clamping down on my nipple too and I think one of her teeth is quite close... OUCH.

My biggest surprise is the way my DD TALKS. Omg - I don't think my DS made a single non-vowel sound until 10 months. DD says mama, baba, dada, and something like sounds an awful lot like "brother". She also strings all of these sounds together for full-out babble sessions.

I want it to slow down too. We haven't decided yet if DD is our last, but we know she's our last for a few years at least. I want her to stay my little babe and she's just changing so quick!

We are good here! Abbott is 6.5 months old now. Took his first tumble off our bed today greensad.gif. I feel so bad! No teeth here yet, which surprises me, as DD was 5.5 months, and DS1 was 4.5 months. He drools like a faucet tho. I weighed him yesterday and he was 19 lbs. He talks ALL the time. He says mama, dada, baba, come on? Lol. He is just about the sweetest thing ever!

MPsSweetie--We had a tumble off the bed tonight too.  :(  I felt terrible!

The little guy is doing well.  When he was weighed a couple of weeks ago he was 16 lbs 2oz.   He won't do tummy time for long anymore--he just rolls onto his back.  I know he can roll from his back to tummy, but just chooses not to.  I don't think he sees a point to it!  He discovered his feet and loves to play with them--especially during diaper changes.  :P  He is loving his solid foods.  We've tried quite a few things but he definitely prefers to feed himself.  I have to give him a medicine mixed in with a puree so I do have to feed him a few spoonfuls at least once a day, but otherwise he much prefers to do it all on his own.  It is so funny to see how excited he gets when I put him in his highchair!

He has been wheezing quite often lately so we go for a barium swallow study next week and then meet with a pulminologist.  We've seen an asthma specialist a couple of times, but he doesn't think we are dealing with just asthma so off we go to a different doctor.  It should be so much fun because I'm not supposed to feed him for 4 hours before hand (he needs to be hungry so he will take the barium) and I have to drive an hour to the hospital and be there at 8.

My oldest son is his favorite person in the world and gets more laughs than anyone else in the family.  He is a happy little guy (even though he isn't sleeping very well--he used to be a great sleeper until he had to have steroids and then we had a crazy July so we have no schedule anymore) and everyone comments on how happy he is.  It is so fun--I love this age!

Ours was a tumble off the couch while visiting fam... She was just sitting next to me, I bent down to grab her a toy, and then there she was laying on the floor near the toy... Ugh! It was awful, I felt so bad.

DD went for her 6 month on 7/27 ... 26 inches, 19 lb 1 oz. She's figured out how to get from sitting to a crawl-like position and sort of crawls, or at least tries very hard to, though she doesn't get far. My DS is her favorite person also... once he gets her going, she will belly laugh until she literally can't stand it anymore  biggrinbounce.gif. She feeds herself pieces of pears, squash, broccoli, potatoes, & zuchinni, and we started feeding her brown rice cereal this week.. but even that, we just put it on the spoon and she does it... amazed by the whole thing since I was mainstream and did spoon-fed purees from 4 months with DS and he couldn't use a spoon until nearly a year!

@LM96 for the bolded... YIKES! That is seriously such a bummer. My DS had surgery at 3 mo, and I remember how lousy the timing of appointments and hospital trips and fasting and such was.  Hope everything works out okay for you guys!
