True Blood season 4! Waiting sucks...book and show discussion

Sooooooooooooo is anyone else excited? (I am looking at you Charlie's Angel!)

Is it ok to make this thread the one where we can also discuss the show in relation to the book?

I haven't watched all the promo videos out there yet but I am so excited about the one showing shirtless Eric running down the road looking very confused. I am so happy if they are doing that storyline from the book. Honestly while I enjoyed the idea I didn't love everything about it in the book. I think Alan Ball will do a good job of it.

I heard today that season 4 starts exactly one year to the day of the end of season 3. So Sookie's been in fairyland (Or wherever) for a while then.

Also the promo video of Jason tied to the bed and looks all scratched and bitten. I'd been wondering if they'll make him a panther. Yay!

I can't wait! Have they released an offical start date? I am also very excited for the new book that comes out May 3rd.

I've been looking for a start date but haven't seen one yet. I've heard July.

I can't wait for the new book either. Chapter one is on Charlaine's website and I heard an excerpt from chapter 3 was somewhere....I'll see if I can find it.

It's here:

I did read Chapter 1 from her website. I really liked book 4. I am trying to keep an open mind when it comes to the show. Last year, I read all of the books during season 3, and it soured me on the show a little. I'm a huge fan, though, and can't wait!

Oh, I almost forgot...I was loving that scene of Jason. If they follow the books, which it looks like they will, that'll be a good storyline for his character.

Im just excited for it.  I havent watched any promos either, because its to much of a tease for me.  We still have about 3 months to go.  So I have lots of reading to do to keep me occupied til then.  I do have dead reckoning preordered on my kindle though.  lol

I have "read" (audiobooked) the entire series.  I like the book plotlines *much* better than the series.  Book 4?  The one where Eric loses his memory is my favorite of the series.  I hope that they start to phase Bill out.  I really like the marketing for this season a la 'waiting sucks.'

The books are great..to be honest, I really don't like the series. It is just too many changes from the books to live with.  And Erics hair should be long..one of my biggest pet peeves...anyway...I have the book preordered and cant wait for that or for the next Anita Blake novel in june..:)

I'm still waiting for season 3 to come out on dvd so I can finish that (seen most of it).  Book 4 was my absolute favorite so I can't wait to see what they do with it on the show.

I totally agree.  The whole Maryann storyline just got way out there for me.  But I'll watch it anyways, I'm sure!

Eric's hair in the show bugs me.  How could they cut it and it doesn't grow back but stays exactly how Pam cut it?  Pam must have special vampire hair cutting skills.

I try to look at the books and show as separate entities...otherwise I'd be very disappointed in the show. I am not sure how much I'd like it on its own but I do take some of my thoughts and feelings from the book series and like superimpose it on the show so that helps. And there are some things I like better in the show - like the Godric storyline. And Jessica.

I am in love with Pam in both.

The Maryann storyline was just...weird.

I do get worried that they are getting to the point where they do too much purely for shock value. Yawn.

New Natural Mom what did you think of the audiobook narrator - I think her name is Johanna Parker? I listened to about half the books (read the other half) and I really liked her except for my usual peeve of people trying to do opposite sex voices. I hated how she did the male voices especially Eric.

My husband and I love this show. I call it "True Raunch" lol.gif Are the "Sookie Stackhouse" novels good? (Bet they're raunchy) Did anyone see the recent Sesame Street episode of "True Mud"? yikes.gif

We also call it Vampire Porn.  I don't find the books anymore raunchy than most stuff but I guess it depends what else you've read. They are waaaaayyyyyy less than the show. The books are great - but quite different from the show. At least at this point they are.

I did see the clip of True Mud on Sesame Street. Very cute. I guess that means you've hit the big time when SS satires you? Ha!

DH has been hiding out in our bedroom all weekend watching season 3 (he didn't watch last summer when it was on but a friend burned it for us). I just heard him laughing his butt off and I knew he had just seen the scene where Russell rips the newscaster's spine out. lol.gif

There's a fun little game here:

http://www.trueblooddigdeeper.com/

Find clues about season 3. Some are hard! I've only found 7 after about 10 minutes - found more but I don't know the answers. I'd better stop or I'll just sit here all day!

Later...ok found all 60 clues but I can't enter as I'm in Canada. Sigh... It was fun anyway!
