So... I'll try to make this short and sweet while including all of the suspected possible culprits.
Â
My 6 1/2 month old has had a taste of spinach before with no reaction, however, last night I introduced it (as a meal) for the first time. Â It was fresh, organic, spinach that I steamed, processed and froze a week ago. Â I had been cooking dinner and touched tomato and lemon, but am fairly certain I washed my hands before feeding. Â Halfway through the meal, hives appeared around her mouth. Â Went away fairly quickly and didn't reappear last night. Â
Â
Part 2- this AM at a bagel shop I ordered a whole wheat bagel for her to gnaw on, which she did happily and with no reaction a week ago. Â She had a few sips of my water and I was eating an egg sandwich on a sesame bagel. Â I had accidentally poked her eye (mild- she didn't cry or anything) but before we knew it her eye was covered in welts and a few hives around her mouth.
Â
Part 3- We get home, she nurses, naps a little and wakes up but she's clingy and mopey which is totally out of character. Â She's sitting on my lap and projectile vomits a seriously large amount... like a 1/2 gallon or something. Â Very scary- for her and I.
Â
She seems better now. Â Was happier after throwing up and then nursed back to sleep. Â But could this all be a food allergy? Â I can't seem to find a connection between last night and this AM? Â Could it be something in my breast milk? Â Or a virus? Â Any ideas? Â And what would you do?Â
