Sleep-crawling, anyone?

DD is about 8.5 months old. She started army-crawling about 2 months ago, has been doing a full cross-call for about 1.5 weeks, and has been very proficient at the whole sitting-to-crawling-and-back-again transition for a month or so.

Last night, the little git was crawling in her sleep for about an hour. She. Would. Not. Settle. Down. But her eyes were closed most of the time, and she kept collapsing onto my pillow, or the bed, or me - clearly asleep! It was pretty funny - would have been much funnier if not at 3 a.m.

Obviously she is not content in her crib because she bangs into things and wakes herself up. Sigh.

I've read about this, but DD1 did not do it. Any other sleepcrawlers out there? How long did it last for your little one?

Our little girl started doing that pretty early too. She's 10.5 months now and she's still at it! Many nights I wake up in a panic because she's about to go over the edge of the bed so we moved her to a pack n play at the foot of our bed and she sleeps much better. Doesn't wake herself - or us - up anywhere near as much now. And she can't crawl out of it!

oh noooo! I've never heard of this but my daughters been doing it, was hoping it would just be a few days thing... but it's been nearly a week! She just turned 6 months...

when she does it she sort of crawls without using her arms right now... just scooting her head along my bed and running in to me or my headboard or my pillow or the edge of her crib!

wow I realize DD has been doing this for a few weeks, since she was practicing crawling through the last 2 weeks that she's actually crawled. Some nights she wakes up and crawls in bed, waving an arm up and teetering as if she were drunk. Makes complete sense that she's actually asleep. When she was learning to first grip things with her hand, she'd put her binky in and out in her sleep. Then stopped that once she was good at it. Hopefully she stops crawling asleep once she's good at it. I hope she doesn't sleep walk when that time comes!

Would a sleepsack help prevent her from sleep-crawling?

Didn't work last night! A swaddle would - but it would have to be a straight jacket b/c DD is Houdini. We'll just work through it.
