Help me find a U.S. History curric that will appeal to my DD!

I tried doing GuestHollow with DD this year, and dropped it mid-fall because she had ZERO interest in history. She liked the hands-on projects and that's about it.

For next year, I want something that will actually appeal to her. She likes workbooks, she likes crafts, she likes books with lots of illustrations. I want her to learn some U.S. History. There's bound to be an approach where we can meet in a happy medium. I'm open to unit study approaches, different themes that might appeal, etc.

Also, we'll be crunched for time and history isn't our #1 priority, so it needs to not be too time consuming. An hour a week is about all we'll likely spend on it.

Any suggestions?

Maybe the social studies books by Evan Moore would work for you. We did one History Pocket book on Ancient History and dd liked it fairly well.

Also wanted to recommend A Book in Time for history projects and crafts.

If you don't mind video based stuff, my dd loves Liberty's Kids. It covers the American Revolution from the perspective of 3 teens who are reporters. Goes pretty well into the issues involved, one of the teens is British and looks at why were people unhappy with the King, etc. Touches a little on slavery, which is left unfinished at the end of the series - as it was left unfinished in real life!
