DS is about to turn 3 and shows no signs of being ready to wean

DS turns 3 next week () and he is still very much into nursing.  Usually we only nurse at night and on the weekends.  I would like to night wean (which will eliminate most of the nursing) but he doesn't seem ready.  I know my DH is getting uncomfortable with it - not that that really sways me either way.  Does it ever end?  Will he really stop on his own?

Yes, he'll eventually stop on his own.  Although when my twins were that age and showed no signs of slowing down, I used to say that worst comes to worst, they could go to the local university and live at home ;-)  They weaned at 5 1/2 and 6, so it did happen.

Are you getting frustrated with his nursing frequency?  Setting some limits will help you keep your sanity.  If he doesn't nursing during the day typically, then night weaning will probably mean weaning fairly soon after, but maybe not.  Depends on what he's attached to (the milk, or the closeness).  Maybe consider limiting to right before going to sleep and early morning.  Or just let things take their course if you're okay with it.
