EXPOSED TO PNEUMONIA :(

Do me, dh, dd1(6), dd2(4) and ds(6months) live with my parents. Both my parents were diagnosed with PNEUMONIA yesterday. They have been fine and then bam, they started to feel really bad, coughing, fever and went to the docs got x-rays and it's pneumonia. If you were me what would you be taking, doubling up on, eating? Should I take a mega dose of Vitamin D, C? What? Help me. I really do not want this to get to me or my kiddies.......

There isn't really a virus that just causes pneumonia that you have to worry about (unless you are HIV+).

Sounds like they have gotten a cold virus that in them caused pneumonia, for whatever reason - age, health, environment, etc. In you and your children it would probably just be an ordinary cold virus.

Agree with the pp. Try to de-stress, think healthy thoughts, and know that your immune systems will likely ward off any of the germs that wound up developing into pneumonia for your parents. I hope they have a speedy recovery!

You can't catch pneumonia from other people - as in, it's not contagious. Your parents could have shared their virus, but even if you do get sick, it doesn't mean you'll end up with pneumonia.

Anyhow, I would up my vit D and C, and hope for the best.
