Getting enough fluids?

My son is 14 months old and will not drink! He barely drinks a bottle of whole milk in the morning and I cannot get him to drink anything during the day. I've tried a bottle and a sippy cup. He just plays with it. I'm concerned that he's not getting enough fluids. He does still wet several diapers a day so I guess he's not dehydrated, but it seems unhealthy. I don't know what to do! Does anyone have any suggestions? How will I ever get him to drink from a sippy on his own?

Is he still getting BM? What does his diet look like?

At 18 mos, my DS has only recently started drinking water (out of a straw cup). He never used a sippy. And he still will not drink cows milk. At this point he's taking a bottle of formula at nap and bedtime, and maybe one other during the day. But he's peeing plenty, so I'm not worried. The other thing to keep an eye on is constipation, which can be caused by dehydration.

No, he stopped drinking formula at 1 year. He still eats mostly jarred baby foods (which contain a lot of water). How did you get your son to drink out of a straw cup? I'm not sure how to teach him to use a cup. I do keep an eye out for constipation, but that hasn't been an issue. Maybe I'm worrying for nothing. Thanks for your response.

I didnt teach him. He figured it out on his own. He has long been fascinated w straws, so id let him drink out of my cup w one. Mostly hed just steal the straw. But a week or two ago he finally kinda got it, and now he'll drink out of his cup (one w a bite valve, i wont give him the one without, too messy).

Have you tried offering him formula again? Like i said before, my guy doesnt like cow (or goat). If i give him a bottle of that he'll take one or two sucks to identify it and abandon it. But he still drinks (diluted) formula a few times a day.

We didnt do purees, so i have no idea about water content. But if he's not showing any signs of dehydration, i wouldnt worry over much.

Have you tried using a small cup? My guy likes a shotglass. I have to hold it for him, but its a good way to practice drinking. You dont need a sippy or a straw - you can go straight to a cup w some practice and patience.
