Activities for 1 1/2 year old near Bellingham

I will be staying on an island near Bellingham for about a month in the early summer. Anyone have good suggestions for play groups or activities? I know my son will be missing his preschool homies so I would love to find a way for him to connect with some other tots!

Do you mean a real island with a ferry boat to get on and off?  Or one with a bridge?  Because if you are on a 'real' island, I'd start looking for things on that island as the money for the ferry would personally deter me of going to the things I'd suggest near Bellingham.

For most of the time we will be on an "island" that you can drive onto... part of the time we'll be on a need-a-ferry island. My sis lives in B-ham so I know we'll be up there quite a bit. Suggestions??

Good guess! My family has a house on Samish, and this is the first babe in awhile in our family so I am grateful for the links! Skagit ideas are great too - I figured there was more happening in Bham but perhaps I am wrong :) We'll be on Guemas for part of the time - so closer to Anacortes.Thank you!!

Guemes has a great community of families.  We have a small tribe of friends there.  Beautiful island.

Jungle play land is great, especially if the weather is rainy.  My kids love it.

I live about a 25 minutes from Bellingham, Bellingham Children's Museum is fun and Jumparound Fun Zone for Rainy days.  The parks in Bellingham are great Cornwall Park and Fairhaven Park both have water parks for the kids to run around in as well as nice play equipment and lots of other kids to play with.  The Bellingham Library has story times on certain days of the week sometimes they don't in the summer so you would have to check the Whatcom County Library System online to check for days and times.  If you're here early summer you should catch berry picking time the kids always love going to Upick places and picking berries.  Hovander Homestead park in Ferndale is fun, pack a picnic lunch and go see the animals they have, bring bags of day old bread, the goats, chickens, pigs, bunnies love to eat it or you can buy the food they have there for them, Ferndale is about 15 minutes outside Bellingham.  Birchbay is about 30 minutes outside Bellingham they have a nice beach to walk on and look for shells and stuff if the tides out, our beaches are much different then Oregon so thats sometimes a fun thing for kids to see, it's also nice to walk around the state park there as well.   Ooh I almost forgot Whatcom Falls Park in Bellingham is nice, playground, walking trails.  If I can think of some more things I will post them later :)
