Financial/savings question for single parents (XP in Finances/Frugality)

Assuming you have a steady income and no major debt, medical issues, etc...what amount of $$ in savings would make you feel the most comfortable?  Not wishful thinking like a million bucks or something, but a realistic number.

I've heard the rule about having 6 months expenses, but I was just curious.  :-)

Having paid off all my debt save for student loans, which are being paid down slowly, I'm happy with 10K in savings, accessible (as in, not locked in to an RSP or a mutual fund). I'm not quite there yet, but getting close. I have never had this kind of money until very recently because my XH was leeching off me.
