We've been cosleeping with our 4 month old since birth. From about 4 weeks on (once we found a swaddle blanket that would hold him), we have all slept great. He woke up several times a night to nurse of course, but once he was done he would go right back to sleep. At about 3 months old he outgrew the swaddle blanket and we couldn't find another the right size but after a few restless nights he slept fine unswaddled.

Fast-forward a few weeks - he started rolling over and everything changed. Now that he is very active, he does not want to sleep. As soon as he is laid down, he rolls over to his stomach, plants his face in the mattress or turns his head back and forth and fusses/cries and kicks his legs (or pushes with his legs like he's trying to army crawl) til we turn him back over (at which time he immediately rolls again). We literally have to hold him on his back til he calms down and falls asleep. We have to do this each time he wakes during the night as well. He can prop himself on his elbows and turn his head and everything, so I don't know why he does the face-plant thing and cries for us to "save" him.

This has been going on several weeks now. We aren't getting any sleep. It seems like he is begging to be swaddled again, but is that safe now that he can roll? We had planned to transition to the cosleeper around 4-5 months and transition to crib in our room when he outgrows the cosleeper. Now we don't know what to do. None of us are sleeping. I don't mind waking to nurse him as often and as long as he needs it, but I want for him to be able to go back to sleep easily like he used to and getting kicked in the boobs and stomach all night isn't fun either :-(
