Queer Conceptions: April 2011 - Keep the BFP's rollin' in! - Page 6

carmen - with dp and i ppaf arrived when we either stopped or tapered off night nursing.  both of our cycles were back to normal right away so i don't know that you still night nursing (unless it's a lot) would affect your lp.  short lp is usually a low progesterone issue.  that could be caused by poor ovulation and there are multiple reasons for that.  i  hope you can get some blood work done and if you can swing it perhaps a 7dpo progesterone test?  fx that your lp gets back to normal soon.  :)  edited to add: probably ask for a prolactin test when you do your cd3 labs.

afu, still low fertility this morning although i do see the estrogen line progressively getting lighter.  (i've kept all the pee sticks so i can compare, lol!!!).  dp also reports that her cm is "very wet" which is her pre-cursor to ewcm.  ovaries are still grumpy on and off and dp says "they feel big".  fingers crossed the monitor goes to high fertility tomorrow.  :)  we also have another follicle scan tomorrow.

oh and she thinks she did good in the exam yesterday, yay!

Indigo: we keep all of our pee sticks to compare until we are certain we don't need them anymore! I think it's a pretty logical thing to do!! Fx for you guys!

Good morning, everyone!

Well, after another night of crappy sleep (that makes three in a row--not entirely sure why) we went in for a much better IUI this morning. The numbers were only slightly better, but we got the nurses that I like, so the whole thing felt much less desolate than yesterday. I'm actually feeling hopeful! Tomorrow morning I start with the progesterone, which she described as alka-seltzer. I had to explain to DP where the fizzing was going to take place, which the nurse thought was pretty funny.

Happy hump day!

yay prettyisa for a better insem day!!  :)  if it's any comfort, on our bfp cycle the ici vials we had spun to iui had 9.4 million and 11.4 million motile respectively with a forward progression of 2.5.  it only takes one and i have my fx that this is the cycle for you! :)  i hear you on the lack of sleep - ds2 has another ear infection.  ugh.

this week is beginning to drag on.  i do get to telecommute on friday though!! :)  last night we picked out horses for the grand national - big steeplechase in liverpool.  my sister offered to put the bets on for us.  :)

Lisadea: have you used Preseed? I swear by it. My CM is pretty good on its own but I find that Preseed just adds that extra boost. I stay away from Mucinex as well. I think if you have no CM whatsoever, you might want to consider it but other than that, try to go more naturally.

Max: go follies, go. You know I'm thinking of you.

AFM: AF started today. Game on. Let the TTC begin.

well almost 4 days late AF showed her face....we had gotten 2 BFN so really did not think we were preg. However the silver lining on Af being late.. is we will not have to miss April to insem! If Af had shown up on time.. we would more than likely be in AZ and well we use fresh local donors.. so even though we did not conceive... we are feeling lucky that Af chose to be a little late.

DP is feeling a bit sad.. but I am trying to show her the positive things about TTC ( as if there really are any)

Library hoping for a baby to arrive soon  .. I am sure you are so excited to meet her!

Sara- I love your little insemination calender on your signature!!! LOL KMFX for you!

Cananny- I'm glad you found a way to remain positive through the bfn's that is quite a challenge! FX for next time!

Gracie- YAY for the numbers!

Krista- How excited you must be! Thanks agan for all the kind words.

AFM- I'm not sure if I updated everyone on this but my beta for monday was back down to 17. So hopefully I am moving in the right direction. I have decided I dont want to waste this cycle so I want to try and insem but I'm not sure how to plan the insem's because my bleeding lasted 3 days, 5 including spotting but my normal period is 7 days so its gonna take some guess work.

indigo: DD does nurse a LOT. On a 'slow' night she nurses every 3-4 hours for the first half and then every hour until morning. She also nurses throughout the day sometimes every hour. My GP didn't think it was necessary to do a prolactin test as she said she's sure it's high because of nursing so much still. And high prolactin suppresses progesterone. I also believe that nursing can delay/stop ovulation so it's likely affecting that as well. Hopefully that's the only reason....I agree that the prog. is likely a problem but I'm hoping it will sort itself out....wishful thinking maybe! I go for my day 3 fsh and thyroid bloodtest tomorrow so hopefully those come back ok. DD has actually cut down on nursing significantly the last 3 days so maybe she's heading towards slowing down herself. Not likely but maybe ;)

Glad your DP did well on her exam and hooray for big, grumpy ovaries :)

isa: I'm glad you had a better IUI this morning and good luck through the tww!

Welcome back to the game, Krista!

Lisadea: I 2nd the preseed, we used it every time we insem'd ttc DD. My cm is fairly abundant but I used it anyway because lube is fun! :P

Sorry about AF, cananny :( Sounds like it leaves with you prefect timing for next cycle so that's good :)

Great number, Graceie. Are you planning on going in for an early u/s?

Thank you all for the warm welcome!  I'm already feeling uplifted by reading your posts, so many ups and downs for everyone!  It's good to remember we're not alone.

We just found out we have coverage for FSH IUIs!!  And the doc's office says if they'll cover those, then we should be all set for IVF too!

Tomorrow I'm taking my wife for a hysteroscopy (have her uterus checked out with a scope), just to make sure all is well before IVF.  It's weird to take the month off intentionally, but also sort of a nice break, since we're still taking the steps to move forward.

We'll have to find a new donor, we were using fresh sperm from both of my brothers, which was super nice in a lot of ways, and now we'll need frozen donor sperm.  I'm a bit sad about this change, but on the other hand it will be nice to have a few less people in our business every month!  There is just no privacy about this, is there?  I just want a baby, I don't really care where the sperm comes from, and as much as it would be great to have the bio connection, my baby will be my baby, regardless.

This week has been extra hard remembering our spirit baby, conceived 4/1/10, who will always be with us.

No I'm hopping for no ultra sounds thing pregnancy
post #117 of 415

early morning post - still low fertility on the monitor.  strange that all other signs are pointing to dp gearing up to ovulate except for the monitor - even dp agreed with me that the stick looks like it should be reading high.  i'm sure they will want to pull e2 numbers this morning at our appt so we will see from that and the ultrasound if this is going to be a viable cycle or not.  we have absolutely no issues with cancelling if that is the right thing to do.  dp has had copious amounts of ewcm and very grumpy ovaries again this morning.

i will update again after our appt.

Carmen, I wanted to chime in on the nursing situation.  Osh was nursing at least hourly during the day, he was 20 months when I got pregnant again.  I mean, he wasn't nursing for all his food or anything, but he was frequent to check in.  I got fertility back when I started school.  Class 5 hours every evening.  That right there is long enough for your body to think the kid is "sleeping through the night"  I don't know if you could stretch out your first sleep cycle, either last nursing being at the beginning of the bedtime routine, then nursing at the first wake up, or working to eliminate the first nursing at night (nurse for shorter periods, or have a nightlight that comes on when it's time and tell her that nanas are sleeping til the light comes or whatever).  I personally think you're awful close, tho.  Good luck!

Hey Everyone,

Haven't checked in for awhile.. I've been checking up on my iphone but unable to write a reply.. DP and I are currently waiting to inseminate... I've just finished AF and set to go next week. The inlaws are here on holidays so looks like we'll be doing a drive by of the donors house and inseminating in the car... how romantic i hear you say...  lol the things we do to have a baby.

congratulations on all those getting good results and those TTC this month...  sorry it's not a reply to anyones direct threads but I've got to get to bed.. work in the morning and then study all weekend so i'll need my sleep while i can get it... and hopefully in 9mths i won't be getting any sleep either..

xo and babydust to you all

well, finally back from our appt!!  we told the np our concerns about the monitor not reading high yet and she said sometimes the fertility meds can mess with it's reading of the pee sticks.  our u/s showed a 21mm and 18mm on the left ovary and a 17mm and one too small to mention on the right ovary.  so potentially THREE follicles!  we asked if they would humour us and draw e2 and they did agree to that.  we didn't know that they stopped carrying trigger shots in the office so then we had to run off to the pharmacy and pick that up.  trigger shot was administered at 1005am.  we have an appt tomorrow at 345pm for the insem (~30hrs past trigger).  dp has an acupuncture appt tomorrow at 10am for pre-insem needles and one on saturday morning at 830am for post-insem needles.  we do hope that the e2 numbers come back ok...we should have those back this afternoon sometime.  we are factoring in that all three follicles will grow more between now and tomorrow afternoon especially with the extra boost from the trigger.
