raw eggs - we use raw egg YOLKS only... in smoothies, in almost-raw ice cream, in egg nog.  but i have a good source for my eggs.  if i were just getting store bought eggs, no way.

brrr.... cold here today.  we have artisanal marshmallows in the fridge (going on 2 weeks old or something) and we just can't seem to get a bonfire in the works.  too cold, too hot, too wet...

definitely lovign that crystal!  i almsot made it to the rock store here but we've got the "Little 500" happening here (big huge bike race, lots of drunken tourist students in town) so going downtown is a death trap.  is it mean that i'm gleeful we've got crap weather?

Mamas, HELP!

Next weekend I have my next plant medicine weekend and I am supposed to bring a meal to feed everyone. Thing is it needs to be gluten free, dairy free, garlic free, peppers free and without egg whites and meat. I have NO IDEA what to make! I never cook without garlic and usually have meat and gluten in my food. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alrighty...thinking....how about you start with chili. A vegetarian bean chili. Will suck without garlic, but maybe you can make up with onions or chives? You can use...hmm, does TVP have gluten? You can put veggies in. I usually put corn and celery and onions. And a couple different kinds of beans, dark or light kidney, chick peas, pintos. Chili hot beans. Though those probably come spiced with something you can't use-- check labels. Don't worry, you have a whole week to figure it out! I'd make it in the crock pot, though. Then you can just travel with the whole crockery

I would check in the allergies forum as those ladies over there might be able to help!  I agree with Maia - a veggie chili would be able to fit the bill but it gets stuck at garlic & pepper free with that one. 

I would also see for the pepper & the garlic to confirm if its the specific items or applies to the whole genus

This lady has many vegan recipes here. There are probably a few gluten free choices too.

umm no. i havent even looked into it. sorry. i have been taking cell salts though.

i do get my eggs from a store. but they are organic free range eggs from kalone ( a local amish community) they have a whole line of good stuff out here locally. milk, eggs, yogurt etc.

they are the only eggs that i can eat. the other ones hurt my stomach.

i did try it in a smoothie : 2 eggs, almond milk, yogurt, vanilla, cornstarch, dextrose. very yummy. like an ice cream shake. only we cant have ice cream. lol.

How about a dahl? My Hari Krishna recipe book has dahl, and they don't cook with garlic. It's pretty tasty.

Or a brown lentil dish with a tin of tomatoes, some vege stock for flavour (ensuring it meets the requirements), add some greens, carrots and slow cook.

Both of these can be served over rice.

Has anyone read Robin Rose Bennett's book Healing Magic: Green Witch guidebook? I'm just starting it, seems quite a nice read so far.
 

Have been starting to experiment and practice with herbs again. DH has a sore knee so I just put a chickweed poultice on it from Susun Weed's Healing Wise, (had great success the first night I tried it - went from a super red hot inflamed area to nothing in the morning).

I did a quick google of nightshades - and it includes all peppers (hot or sweet).  But black pepper is not included.

Sweetsunshine85-I like the recs you got.  I feel like chili's a good overall crowd pleaser.  Can you have some of the "No" items on the side?  I've entertained with a huge pot of "meets everyone's needs" beans.  Then on the side, I would have cheese, sour cream, corn chips, meat (though in your case, I'd probably skip the meat), tomatoes, olives, green onions and whatever.  I have super health conscious friends, and the first time I did this I was reluctant to serve the cheese, sour cream and meat.  Guess what always gets scarfed up?

FYI: Peppers are nightshades, like tomatoes and eggplants, so if peppers are excluded, the others might need to be too. I was just reading an article on this, which talked about avoiding all peppers, including paprika. I hate to throw in a monkey wrench like that, but I would definitely ask about this.

Well the pepper allergy is mine, so I can say that yes, I am mildly allergic to other nightshades, but peppers are the main problem. Almost anaphylactic response...

Morning all:)  I took the entire weekend off the computer as well as the phone and tv so I could finish my TM.  Thankfully it's done:)  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  My DS is back to school today, the first day since having all his wisdom teeth removed.  It went pretty well.  I will say he is tired of not eating food though.  All the soft cold things, ice cream, yogurt, applesauce, smoothies, jello and pudding have worn out their welcome.  Today it is overcast here, windy and chilly:(  I did get some of my seeds started this weekend as well.  Well, I am going to go back and try to catch up.  Hope all is well.

Two weeks from Beltane and guess what!!!  It's snowing again!!!  Right now, it's a mix of rain and snow but last night it was big fluffy snowflakes...

I.Want.Spring!!!  (yes, that's me!  trowing a tantrum! )

Talking about Beltane... Between DD2's dance recital on April 30 and starting a new job on May 2, our celebration will be very low key.

She has never been in a time-out at school (and we don't do that at home), but she was yesterday. Then she wouldn't eat the dinner I carefully crafted to be so cute and tasty at the same time (I cut out chicken with a star cookie- cutter). Ugh. Just ugh.

Boy what a day.  It sounds like so many of us are going through some rough times right now.  I can't wait until every thing settles down!

I just found out our public Beltaine ritual is on April 30th, so YAY, I get to go!!! I thought for sure it'd be the next weekend, when I'm at M's. Either way, M and I are going to celebrate the traditional way, whether he realizes it or not

I just found a used tire place up the street, and they have my weird tires, and they'll replace and balance them all for $35 each! Can you beat that with a stick? I think I'll go there tomorrow and see if they still have them. Then get an appt. for alignment. Yay!

Well it's snowing here and I am not a happy camper with the tricks Ma Nature has decided to roll out.  I just planted yesterday 2 little english lavender plants by my back door along with some rosemary (back door & by my garden's gate... yup I watched practical magick again this weekend, along with Eat, Pray, Love).  I am hoping beyond all hope they survive this chilly reception and thrive!!!

Been working with my FEs and got a most interesting message via my angel cards about trust, releasing my fears and having faith.  Such a good message and reminder to just give it over to the higher powers. 

DS1 is on spring break, and besides cleaning the house, the whole family has gotten hooked on a wonderful little cartoon Phineas & Ferb.  Its so much fun about 2 stepbrothers who create the most wonderful things over their summer vacation - nothing is off limits with their imagination (like rollercoasters, a giant maze, supped up kiddie rides, chariot races, writing a musical, creating a sci-fi world and special effects, building/repairing a time machine, etc..).   

So in the immortal words of Isabella ... "Whatcha doing?"

ingredient free meals for many... something Ethiopian maybe?  Injera can be made gluten free and something like Berbere stew is tasty but (I think) avoids the items you listed.  Or how about maki rolls?  Avocado, carrot, cucumber, rice, pickled ginger and gluten free tamari.  Oh and seaweed for rolling.  It's easy to make (we used to host "roll your own" parties), totally customizable in terms of allergies, packs well, and the ingredients aren't too pricey.  Add miso soup with a bit of shredded tofu and you're set (TVP isn't usually gfree, tempeh can be gfree, seitan is never gfree lol).  Or black beans and rice cooked with cumin, served in gfree taco shells... shredded  lettuce, add your own if you're able cheese (or soy cheese), a corn/bean salsa with no garlic, etc?
