Co-sleeping solution for a new baby and a low bed.

Hey all,

We're expecting babe #2 in a few short weeks and had hoped to get an Arm's Reach...but their lowest model only fits to beds 16 inches high and our bed is only 12-13 inches high.

We need for the new baby to have its own area to sleep in.  We've got a thrashy 2.5 year old that sleeps with us for part of the night.

I've got a nice organic cotton crib mattress I could put on the floor beside the bed, but for some reason I feel worried about that solution and I'm not sure why.  I also have the full sized crib that goes with it, but side-caring isn't an option since our bed is so low.  I just don't want to use a crib with this second babe.  We used it on and off with our first and it was kind of a nightmare.

Is there another solution?  Hammock?  New bed?  Something else I'm missing?

Thanks mamas

Our bed is about 18in high.  We could've used the Arms Reach Universal, but I got a good deal on the mini.  We thought about cutting the legs a bit shorter somehow, but I want to be able to resell when we are done with it.  So we just put it right next to the wall and pushed the bed up against it.  We're basically using it as a bassinet but it's still right there next to me.  But most of the time DS is in bed with us anyhow.  What you could do is get the Universal and wedge it between the bed and wall.  OR you could cut the legs off at the right height or raise the bed.  We would've liked to raise our bed to meet the cosleeper height, but the kind of frame our bed is on wouldn't work with bed risers.
