Baby-led Weaning and POOP!

Thread Starter

My ds (6 1/2 months) has been happily feeding herself solids for a few weeks now (she was ebf and is still bf normal amounts). She loves food and has figured out about swallowing. She is not eating much, but enough that she had her first real big kid poop today. Here's the problem, she cried and cried as she was doing it. Is this normal? I'm not freaking out about it, I just want hear other people's experiences.

She eats a range of foods, carrots, apple, parsnips, brown rice cakes, mango, avocado, mushrooms...

I have another question about Vitamins, but I think I will put that as a separate post.

I think she might be too young for mushrooms..they can cause a problem with the stomach.

I give my LO mushrooms (7 mo) she totally loves them. It's my understanding that the mushrooms sold in stores, as long as they are cooked, are super domesticated and homogenous. They typically don't have any properties that could upset the stomach like wild mushrooms can. Some people are sensitive to them though. What did her poop look like? Did it have big pieces of food in it?
