First rinse not rinsing!

New momma here. How clean should your dipes be after the first cold rinse? Mine look just like they went in, only wet. My prefolds come out a little better than my kissas. The kissas are already stained after a week! Will these yellow bf poop stains sun out?

Sun will take the stains out, yes.

Mine look about the same, I think. I actually don't really look at them before turning the wash cycle on, but since it's just water, and pee is so pale anyway, they wouldn't really look any cleaner. The benefit you're getting is getting pee out and starting the wash with less pee swooshing around in the water.

Are you talking about a pre-rinse, or a rinse after a wash?  If it's a pre-rinse, use a little detergent.  Oh, and use warm water for the pre-rinse--that's one of the new recommendations I've read for stains--apparently stains release better when they are washed in the temperature they were created in--have no idea if that's true but it's what is now recommended by the manufacturers of Rockin Green.   BF poo can stain, and sunning will help get the stains out.

I put 2 capfuls of bac out in my rinse dispenser for the pre-wash and I just run a full cycle (hot wash/cold rinse only bac out added in rinse) in my top loader b/c it does not do a warm or hot rinse. Then I run another HW/CR with detergent and then one more time HW/CR with nothing. I use prefolds and prefitteds (tinkletraps) and a few osocozy AIO (natural fibers) and my DD2 is almost 6 months still EBF and I've never had a stain. I have heard of some LO's who have EBF poop that stains. Maybe pretreat with bacout/water mix. I squirt my overnight dipes with a 50/50 water/bacout spray before putting them in the wetbag - you could try that with your poopy ones and see if it helps.

Thanks everyone. I have switched to a full warm cycle as my pre-rinse and I sunned most of my dipes yesterday and ALL the stains are gone. They look brand new!
