In an e-mail statement to ABC11 Eyewitness News, a company spokesperson issued an apology saying, "We deeply regret any comments made by one of our employees that Mrs. Lanham found offensive."

The spokesperson said she talked with Lanham Thursday night and "deeply apologized for the comments." She added, "We plan to educate all of our employees to ensure sensitivity to breastfeeding mothers."

Because if babies have boobies, the the terrorist win.

It wasn't an Army official that asked her to leave, it was an employee of a private contractor.  I think that's an important thing to be aware of.

Agreed, this is an uninformed individual, who isn't a representative.  Not only that, but most officials are pretty fully briefed on federal laws, etc., in the tons and tons and tons of meetings they have to attend to avoid liabilities like this.

It wasn't my intention to slam the military by posting this. smile.gif

I think their response was the best one can hope for, but it really sucks (no pun intending) that this sort of thing keeps happening over and over again and that people think it's OK to pull this crap.

Oh, I didn't think it was, I just have heard a lot of army bashing as a result of the hitting the news, and wanted to clarify before anyone got the wrong idea.

It's good that the company did apologize, but I'm sorry--this is not a real apology:
Quote:
"We deeply regret any comments made by one of our employees that Mrs. Lanham found offensive."
And a spokesperson should know that.

A true apology would be worded more like, "We deeply regret any offensive comments made by one of our employees." That would acknowledge the words were indeed offensive, and it was not just the mom being overly-sensitive.
