We had this same problem with DD2 and her's also started around 2 months. Her's was definitely food related. She also had blood in it and it was green. I started by removing dairy from my diet and that helped a lot but didn't completely eliminate the problem. I ended up doing an elimination diet and was able to eat very few foods for several months but eventually I was able to add more stuff back in. She is now almost 20 months and we are still nursing. She still doesn't tolerate gluten, dairy, soy, or eggs and gets constipated and extremely irratable with any of those. Is there any blood in her poop? Is it green? Are the issues with your breast thrush? Thrush can be a sign of a food intolerance...

My DS had this as well. I cut out dairy & eggs and the green, with mucus, sometimes blood tinged stool ceased withing a week or two. Fast forward a year later and he tested super allergic to both, with signs along the way.

If you decide to cut out or trial the food(s) you suspect are causing problems and food allergy is really the issue, you also have to consider what is in the formula.

Also look into foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. I wasn't sure which of these things was causing the issue so I also did block feeding as well as eliminating dairy. Could have been both.

Also, his (ex) pediatrician refused to take me seriously as well. And well, turns out he was wrong.

Good luck! And also when did you start the formula? Have you used the same type the whole time?

I hope the elimination diet helps you figure things out! Also, about the thrush...you said it didn't really help but when they treated you did they also treat your little one? If it is in fact thrush you would both have to be treated simultaneously in order for it to help.

Oh, don't you know that babies can't have allergies that young?  PHLbLbLbLbT!

Amazing that so many docs and nurses can ignore first hand experience from moms!  Good luck on dairy elimination.  A friend eliminated peanuts (she loved M&Ms) and that helped.  Don't give up!

Remember as well your little one might have some allergies to deal with later (my oldest has a bazillion, so do I).  So, postpone solid foods as long as possible, and then delay introducing the common allergens for even longer.   Finally, don't discount uncommon allergens. I am allergic to rice, oats, and almonds (and many other things) and not a bit to wheat.

     Good luck.
