I don't think it's an issue that Jane is your middle name.

My DD's middle name will be a variant of my first name.

If you like Mae, what about Rae?

Maeve is sort of an extension of Mae that could be a nice compromise...particularly if she is born in May. :-)

dh is absolutely in love with the name.  i'm not completely over the moon about it (the way i was about the name we chose for dd), but that's ok because dh isn't completely over the moon about the boys name we've picked.

honestly, i'm having really strong boy feelings right now, so this whole thread may all be moot.  thanks so much for all the suggestions, however.

i still really like jane aurora (which one of you suggested).  however, i think the only way i'll be able to sell dh on it is if this baby is born in may (he doesn't want to name a may baby "mae" even if it is spelled differently).

thanks again!

Rae

I'm better with three syllable names though:

Melody
Harmony
Annalise
Lucia
Josephine
Angela
Felicia
Jacqueline
Anika
Ramona

WOOOOO!!!!! banana.gif This is awesome. I hope you end up feeling more happy about it though. Who knows, maybe there will be a last minute idea after the baby arrives that you're both super-psyched about, or maybe it'll be a little boy. Regardless, good luck and congrats! :D

oh, don't get me wrong, i do like it.  in fact, the more i say it, the more it grows on me.  i think it's quite lovely, flows nicely with baby's last name and goes well with dd's name.  i just think dd's name (when we came up with it) was perfect and this just doesn't seem perfect to me, but maybe nothing will.  i'm quite excited with our boys name (but i think it's because he will be named after a dear relative).

I felt that way with our second child too. I was so happy with DS's name, but we really struggled to name DD and I was only like 90% happy with it. Now I love it and it suits her to a T. :D
