OT- can you help me out for a story I'm writing about homework?

I don't know if this is OK to post here (mods - please let me know if I'm out of line - and if it has to be killed or moved or whatever) - but I'm a WAH writer as some of you know and I'm working on a story for a national education magazine. I figured that this group of online "friends" would be one place to look. :)

The story is about homework battles and how you fixed your homework problem with your kid. What was the issue - did your kid drag their feet - how did you motivate them? Were they sloppy - how did you get them to focus? This is less about getting tutors and more about what parents can do.

(FWIW - I know there are a lot of unschooling or anti-homework sentiments here - since this is for a mainstream pub, I just need people who feel their experience works within the story idea.)

Please feel free to post this to other people who you think might fit the bill. PM me if you want to be interviewed - I would call you and it would take about 15 minutes or so.

Thanks!

I'm a teacher. There are two things that have always really made a difference in my students doing their homework.

One is that kids need their own workspace without distractions. A lot of families sit their child at the table while the tv is on, people are talking, siblings are around, etc. Students need a quiet space of their own where they can concentrate.

Another is that parents need to be interested in their child's schoolwork, not just helping them with homework. They need to ask about school and be interested in their child's day.
