HI!

I am a new sewer and tryng out basic projects.

I want to make some felt food for my kids and have been experimenting with eco felt and following some online tutorials to get the hang of it. I've been experimenting with the eco felt because it is super cheap and I would rather make big mistakes on a $0.45 piece than a $4 piece. From what I have read online, people love using ecofelt for playfood. I get the appeal of recyled materials, but I have some reservations and can't find the info I am looking for.

From what I understand, ecofelt is made from recycled plastic bottles and am just wondering if this is basically the same (from a chemical perspective) as having my kids play with plastic food (which I am trying to avoid )? Am I missing something or being paranoid, or is this as straightforward as it seems? Why would I replace plastic playfood with plastic felt food, or is there something else going on here?

Would love some feedback because I have not yet found info about this via Google!
