Northstar, I was on BCPs for over 10 years.  It took a very long time for my cycle to regulate.  We charted to avoid for one year and then it took us 12 months after that to get pregnant.  So if things are weird, I think that is pretty normal.  I did quite a bit of looking into it.  Hope your cycle regulates quickly!

Cal, hope the GSB shows up for you soon!  I started testing on day 9 or 10 too, in order not to miss things.

Ram, the trip to Iceland sounds totally wonderful!  Maybe you can have a vacation baby?  That's what I always hoped for!

Also, someone was asking about prenatals?  What I notice is that I pee neon.  I think it is the b-vitamins.

Rosie- Sadly my cousin lives on the opposite end of the country so we don't get to see each other much. All my friends and family are far away and we haven't really made any friends here yet. Someone told me "when you have kids then you'll meet people"...great we'll get right on that. We've planted just about everything in the veggie garden and we'll see what grows. Mostly it looks like the Swiss chard and sweet peas are winning the most likely to succeed award. We put in some asparagus, but it will be a couple of years before we can harvest that. We caught the raised bed fever so DH has been building me beds all around, we just built 2 herb beds for our deck. We've got all the standard herbs and put some flowers in to hopefully attract butterflies. Everything's pretty puny right now but hopefully it will be nice in the summer

Ha, that's what I told DH. I said you know people always get relaxed on vacations and that's got to be good for TTC. We're going during our anniversary so there's a chance for some romancing.

Taxi, Rosie, yes I'm ready for "banging daily bonanza!"  It really is cute when the man gets on the bandwagon.  Mine has adopted the term "baby dance" because I've used it with him so he knows what it means and refers to it...it's nice because it's not all being kept track of in my head, you know? 

Caly, Rosie, Northy, we are all gearing up.  to us all!  I am having my first date with GSB tomorrow afternoon and following the same plan to test in the afternoon, which means I have to take the test strip and holder thingie to work with me....and I will also reduce my fluid intake greatly.  Not sure how I'll do that with the coffee, cause I'm really going to want some....maybe I'll have one green iced tea and that's it....

To all the GSB ladies... You can take those with FMU.  I know the other OPKs say not to take with FMU, but for some reason (maybe the sensitivity?), you can use GSB first thing.  First month, I took it twice a day (FMU and late afternoon, because I didn't trust him), but when I got results on the same days, I just switched to FMU - so much easier than trying to hold pee and limit fluids (especially when I was trying to get 100 ounces of water).  Anyway, just wanted to share my experience with my favorite guy GSB.  Good luck to all!

Ram - Take pictures! I learned the first year that I love to take pictures of everything, from before those seeds start coming out and every week after. Pictures of the bed construction were awesome to look at later too. Then SHARE! I am super excited about my peas and lettuces. They're happily coming up! I expect it's too early up in CT for anything much else. The rest will come up when it's warmer. :)

Cath, Caly, North - I'm excited we'll all be on the path together. Good like with your GSB dates. I'm off to go pee on an IC in a second. No holding back fluids for me...I feel too crappy if I do. If that means I get iffy OPKs, I'll have to deal with it this month then maybe think about it again next month.

BTW - Did any of you see my thread about measure your man's taint to see if he's likely to have low sperm count? Seems crazy but the research looks solid so far. Not a huge study, but pretty astounding results. Men with less than average (2") anogenital length are seven times more likely to have low sperm count. Crazy. DH let me measure him, we're good as far as that "diagnostic test" goes!  lol

Carla - "GSB" is an abbreviation just used in this thread... I think it stands for "Golden Shower Boyfriend" or something like that... but it's actually the abbreviation for the Clear Blue Digital OPKs test - they smile when they are positive.  In my opinion, they are the best OPKs out there, because there's no guessing or interpretting line darkness.  It's either a smiley face, or not. 

Rosie - Interesting info about the research and measurement... not sure I could talk DH into letting me measure him, though.  Guess it doesn't matter now, anyway.  ;)

I think my DH would freak out if I was going to measure anything "down there" with a measuring tape.  I think I will pass and pray that his swimmers are live and active ones!

Golden Shower Boyfriend, eh, well, GSB it is then.  In another thread they were talking about using the OPKs to tell if you were pregnant early.  Strange.  I am TTC but not quite so methodical or overly focused on it yet.

All - If I'm a little odd or off in the next few days, it'll be due to govt shutdown. Most of our income depends on this. Since I went back to school fulltime we really don't have the cushion for a couple weeks of no-pay, especially when trying to have a baby. :( Ourselves aside, there are huge ramifications to all the myriad of small businesses that will shutter up if there are many days of no federal government. The economic implications for "the little guys" are not even mentioned in the press. I'm SO MAD at Congress and Obama, all of them, for playing this game of chicken with OTHER people's stakes.

I used GSB on my bathroom break from my boring teacher meeting today at 11 am, and GOT A SMILEY GUY FIRST TIME!  CD13!!!  I'm so happy just to have something work right, right out of the box! I've had such a hard time with getting those positives, and GSB came through! You guys were RIGHT!

AND DP has the next four days off!  Bangin daily/good solid try time!

This thread is cracking me up right now!  I didn't see your thread about it Rosie, but I did see the news stories (I believe one was titled "Say It Taint So") about the correlation between the length of the perineum and sperm count.  I read one of the stories aloud to DH.  He sighed and shook his head and said, "I know this is going to end with us measuring my taint."  Luckily for him, I don't want to know.

Lilac, I think Birdie coined the term "Golden Showers Boyfriend."  Hopefully you'll get your BFP before you start feeling the need to obsess about TTC.

Good morning Cath, Rosie, Taxie, Birdie, Ram, ValH, Lilac, Caly and a good morning to everyone I missed. I hope all is going well for you and that the baby dust keeps coming. I emailed earlypregtests yesterday to see if a OPK is considered positive if only part of the test line is darker than the control and they said yes, although it wasn't a 100% yes. But they said I probably ovulated - I have pictures that I should have sent them. I didn't know you could send them pictures...pretty neat! So i went back into FF and put a + on CD5 and CD6. Then i was poking at my chart this morning and somehow messed it up. If your period started on 2/25 but I didn't take my first BBT until 2/28, how do I get my chart to start on 2/25? I had it perfectly before but every time I try to change the spotting/menses to L on 2/25 it creates a new chart.

Never do your FF chart without coffee and your glasses!!

BBT rise again this morning. CM pre-O is consistent to my other two cycles, just so early FF is saying I might have O'd between CD5-CD8.

Northstar, I've ordered from Earlypregnancytests.com but didn't know I could email them and ask questions!  That's pretty cool.  Sorry, I never used FertilityFriend but I hope somebody can give you some advice on how to fix your chart.

Cal, I googled the title of the article you read...not sure that Hubby would ever consent to me measuring that!  I don't think I want to know either.  The article did mention avoiding phthalates so that is something to look in to.

Cath, congratulations on  showing up for you!  Go, go, go!

Ram, I understand about family living far away and not having any friends around.  It's bad, but I've thought that having a kid will help me meet people.  At least it would give me something to talk about to other parents.  Your garden sounds lovely (swiss chard especially!)

Rosie, you and Ram are motivating me to get out and plant some garden seeds!  It think it would have to be a no-till garden though...

Oh, and I think Boots suggested I name Mr. Smiley Man the Golden Showers Boyfriend.

You can try to "merge two cycles" and see if that works. I had a similar problem and merged the two cycles which fixed the problem.

Birdie - when I went on the website there was no support number to call so I emailed them. I want to do it again today! My OPK were fading for the past two days then I took one today CD9 at 1:00 on a whim and it was dark. The strips are not FMU I usually do them around 5:30 b/c around lunch they are faint. I'll take another at the usual time tonight but...ahhhh!!


Does anyone know how i can share my picture via iPad?
