Wha?  That is crazy!  Yeah, being left handed is kind of subversive ;)

My DH teases me because I'm left-handed in the kitchen but right handed everywhere else. My mom is a lefty and while she can use either hand equally, lefty kitchen tools were a favorite gift to her from friends. Since that is what we had in the house, that is what I learned on. Still a righty all the way but I can only comfortably peel a potato with my left lol.

Interestingly both my husband and I are left handed, and s far the 3 of children who write are all right handed.  If socialization had anything to do with it, you'd think they would be left handed. But nope.

I can draw with my right hand, bat right handed, but everything else is left dominant.

I never really noticed how everything is made for righties until I had my dd.  I asked my husband how annoying it must have been for him as a kid.

I read somewhere years ago that 6 left handed people die each year using items that were designed for right handers.

I'm a lefty, BTW, and I endured the old school - sit on your left hand - from preschool thru 1st grade. To this day, I am ambi-handed. I still have issues with left/right directions. I even flunked my first driving test because the tester told me to turn right and I turned left. When someone tells me something is on the right, I instinctively go to the right. Being left handed is hard sometimes! :)

But as another leftie book once said, "Maybe lefties are the next step up in evolution." I take solace in that!

Is it possible that your DD is receiving things into her right hand from others and just goes with it?

I AM left handed and I unknowingly treat my kids as if they are all the time.  I hand them things in their left hand, set them up with the cereal bowl with the spoon either pointing out to the left or on the left side, etc., etc.  My DH has noticed that my DS will do things lefty for me and righty for him - because DH gives him things like a righty would.

Just a thought.

That's a possibility. My left-handed dd has a designated seat at the table for this very reason!

She switched hands frequently until she was about 5 and finally decided to primarily a lefty. She still will use her right hand for some things like throwing a ball or cutting with scissors.
