We have a son! Need relactating advice.

Last Tuesday we got a call from our agency saying that we had been matched with birthparents.  It was exactly 8 months since we were put in the book with our agency.  We talked with the birthmom and set up a time to meet with her before her induction the next day.  She ended up going into labor before we had a chance to met so we met her, birthfather and baby boy several hours after birth.  We got to take him home the next day!!  He is just beautiful and perfectly healthy.  Birthmom took fantastic care of herself and he was born with no drugs during labor.  He has been nursing with a supplementer since we got him home.  I have been pumping with hospital grade pump and he dry nurses constantly as well.  I extended nursed both my other children (5 years non-stop with 10 months of tandem nursing).  Any suggestions?  I don't want to take any hormones.  I am drinking mother's milk tea and I feel some changes in my breasts.  Oh my this has been a wonderful and surreal week!  Both birthparents signed the papers today so he is officially ours-very bittersweet.

Congratulations.

My adopted daughter is almost 32 months and still nurses. I started pumping in prep for adoption when my bio-son was 20 months old.

I know you don't want to do medicines, but I'd seriously consider domperidone. You can't get it in the US so you'd have to buy it from Canada (with a prescription) or somewhere distant without a prescription. You can get lots of information from www.asklenore.info.

I just recently stopped taking the domperidone. I took it for over 2.5 years without a problem. I only had to supplement 2 to 6 ounces of frozen breastmilk each day.

In addition, I took Motherlove's More Milk Special Blend. I got it in liquid alcohol free (it's cheapest that way.) It definitely helped boost what the domperidone did. Definitely try this even if you don't want to do the domperidone.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to pm me.
