Well after the worst week/weekend of my life my fears were confirmed today, we lost our baby. Last Mon. I had a pap and everything looked good but by Tues I started to spot. By Thursday the spotting turned into some very small clots that were very dark. I was scheduled for a dating ultrasound on Fri. and the midwife felt comfortable letting me wait to see what the u/s picked up. On Fri, we saw the baby, measuring smaller (about a week) than expected with a heartbeat just over 100. I started cramping and heavy spotting Sat and Sun. Yesterday morning I called the midwife and she reassured me that once we saw the heartbeat we had less than a 5% chance of miscarriage. By yesterday afternoon I was passing larger clots and having an almost regular period. The midwife order another u/s today that revealed what my heart already knew, the baby was gone. They prescribed me Methergine to contract my uterus and expel any tissue that might be left.
I want to thank the moms of Nov 2011 for being there for the last few weeks and sharing your stories on the board. I'm praying for each and every one of your babies that they are born healthy and happy.
