Chicago-area question

Thread Starter

My husband just got a job in a town a bit southwest of Chicago.  Now we have to find a place to live.  I know nothing about the area, and I have never lived in the midwest before.

We're a homebirthing, cloth-diapering, natural-parenting sort of family.  I'll be staying home with our little ones (2.5yr and 6mo), and would like to be someplace where I won't stick out like a sore thumb.  I'd especially like someplace where I could walk to playgrounds, and possibly walk/bike to other places as well.  Any advice on good towns for people with kids?

Us AP are all over. Traffic is a pain. I suggest living as close to work as you can afford.

What town southwest of Chicago?

I agree, try to find something as close to your dh's job as possible.

Orland Park, Tinley Park, Frankfort are some thoughts off the top of my head. I actually live way northwest so not quite as familiar with that area.

Do you want to be close to the city? Looking for a more rural feel?
