Hi everyone--I'm concerned that DS, 5.5, has started having problems staying dry during the in the last few weeks. He's not exactly having accidents; it's more a dribble, probably when he thinks he can hold his pee and some leaks out. He also started disliking underwear around the same time and we haven't been requiring him to wear it, so I guess it's possible that he was leaky before but we were not aware of it if it didn't make a visible wet spot on his pants.
Â
For the record, he's still in pull-ups at night--I spoke to the ped about that and she wasn't concerned, opining that it is likely that his body does not yet produce enough of a hormone that would lead to less urine production at night. I know nighttime wetness issues can be allergy-related, but we haven't tried any food elimination. Would allergies affect daytime pee issues?
Â
We don't want to show any annoyance or any sort of reaction if this is something he cannot control, but I do want to encourage him to pay attention to his body's signals.Â
Â
When *would* you be concerned about daytime wetness?
Â
Thanks.
