I am a proud young mother of one beautiful 14-month-old daughter. My husband and I are so lucky to have her; she brings such happiness into our lives every day. I'm originally from WA, and now live in Indiana, so I had a bit of a culture shock. More recently, I learned that Indiana has outlawed direct-entry midwifery and midwives who are not also nurses can be jailed for attending/helping with home births, regardless of their education, experience, or certification. I'd like to become a midwife, but to me there's a clear delineation between a midwife and a nurse, and I don't want to throw away 4-6yrs worth of money doing something I don't want to do, when I'd be perfectly happy paying for a tuition to a midwifery school to get my certification. Indiana does not offer that, however.

Is anyone else having this state-block problem?

I look forward to spending time here :)
