How is everyone doing? Has anyone heard of any "cure"??? LOL I can't keep from thinking who ever thought to name this morning sickness, could never have actually experienced it, because the only thing morning about it, is that it goes from one morning to the next... yuck.. I bought ginger ale and crackers and all the bland calming foods I could think of, but to be honest nothing goes down well.. My eyes are speckled, like they are starting to turn black and blue, I think from the trauma of throwing up, I am not looking forward to this next month Just wondering if anyone has anything that is helping them get through the day??

Hi, Angie--

I've been pretty miserable with "morning" sickness myself...although I'm not throwing up, I'm basically nauseous 24/7 with bouts of unbelievable hunger in between.

The nurse at my clinic suggested trying ginger supplements--250 mg 4 times a day. I think that's helping some.

I also suck on Altoids after I eat.

I'm trying to eat more protein, everyone says that helps.

In general I'm trying to remember to eat regularly, which is hard since I usually feel worst right after I eat.

Other things that sometimes seem to soothe me: fizzy drinks, popsicles, Jolly Rancher hard candies, ginger candies, lemon drops.

Other remedies that have been suggested but did nothing for me: changing prenatal vitamins, taking additional vit B6, Pulsatilla (a homeopathic remedy), SeaBands. My acupuncurist gave me some herbs to take but they made me too nervous.

Mainly I'm trying not to stress about how terrible my diet is and just try to take it one day at a time. The combination of the nausea and the acute fatigue is so hard! I just keep reminding myself that each day I feel rotten is one day closer to feeling better!

Good luck and hang in there. This too shall pass.

I've definitely had it worse this time than last. I was drinking ginger ale too, but I switched brands a week ago and the difference is unbelievable. It is Reed's and you can probably only find it in a natural food store. It comes in bottles that look kind of like beer bottles. It has 17 g. of fresh ginger in each 12 oz. bottle. You can also get an extra strong version that has 26 g. of ginger in a 12 oz. bottle. I haven't been brave enough to try that one. It's pretty strong and not the most tasty, but it helps so much. I ran out yesterday and wasn't able to get to the store until early afternoon (b/c I was so sick) and I had a really awful morning b/c of it. It's the first thing I drink in the morning. Maybe you can find some.

I have been drinking the schwepps ginger ale and DH and I decided to switch to the Reed's this weekend.

The nausea isn't constant. But, it comes on so unexpectedly. I still haven't let myself throw up. Too much of a freak about that.

I haven't had time to search out any solutions so far this pregnancy, but with my last one sour things really helped. I would add lots of lemon to my water and suck on really sour candy, and that seemed to help. You can also get ginger Altoids, which seemed to help some as well. Feeling sick is just so miserable! I hope we're all over this soon!

I've been feeling pretty horrible with it the last few days. In my last pregnancy ginger beer was my magic cure but it doesn't seem to do much this time. Maybe I drank so much last time I became immune!

i eat a small handful of almonds first thing in the morning. through the day i try to keep getting protein. i find when i feel sick i have not stayed ahead of it. once i feel really hungry, often it is too late and the nausea just sticks around. the almonds work for me!

A vitamin B-complex has (so far!) prevented any MS. I've also heard putting 7-up/gingerale etc. in the freezer and eating the ice-chips from it helps - I'm going to try that if I get sick. I was REALLY sick during my last pregnancy, so I remain hopeful in the B-complex.

umm, yeah that is me too. I find myself not having anything but a glass of OJ until about 6:00 or so. I'm not throwing up, but I just feel so nauseous. And when I do manage to eat, I immediately have to go to the bathroom! ugh!

I have NEVER had MS with either of my kids, so this being miserable is new to me!

Eating helps me... anything I can, even if I feel horrible. I read that you get sick when your stomach is empty. Also, on the advice of my midwife, I stopped taking my vitamins until the ms stops. Thats helped a lot. And I take everything slow... no sudden getting up, sitting down, etc. Also, I mix up Rasberry leaves, spearmint leaves (or peppermint), and fennel seed for tea and use a bit of honey and soy milk. That helps a lot. And homeopathic under the tongue pill thingys... you know what I mean!

I think this stuff has helped as my ms is much easier to handle this pregnancy. Last time, I would feel sick so, logically, I wouldn't eat... I puked all the time. This time I make myself eat. No puking, and I feel better eventually. Good luck!
