Birth approaching... UC still on the table

Hi UCers!

I'm just checking in, I guess... anyone due soon as well?  Hope you're feeling well!

I'm 35+4 with my first and am large and in charge... we're doing OB care and I do have a nice birthing center backup.  However, I'm still hoping for a UC and started doing some deep visualization of the birth at home.

Interestingly enough, I found that in my mind, I was sticking to my master bedroom and attached bathroom for the birth - I had imagined I'd want to be downstairs or something, but it seems I'm very drawn to my private cocoon, I like to think of our bedroom as a bit of a treehouse because you can see the trees outside on all sides.  I'm visualizing a nice pile of pillows and towels (plastic'd), lots of relaxation tracks, some belly dance moves and restorative breathing.  I'm a yoga teacher and have been practicing a lot in the relaxation methods.

My husband is still "medium" on the UC, but the deal is, if I'm really relaxed (we're doing a lot of hypnosis practice, hypnobirthing method) and we don't know how far along I am, it's entirely possible I'll get pushy and we won't try to rush to the birthing center.  In honoring his wishes, if things pass slowly and/or either of us has an instinct, we're going to talk about it and make a gametime decision about going up to the birthing center.  This is the result of a many month long negotiation and because it's our first, I feel it's about as good as it gets.

Today I got my birth kit from in his hands and ordered my kiddie pool and liner.  By the end of next week, work will start to slow down and I'll be full term.  I'm full of awe and wonder at the prospect of being a mama and I am pretty confident in my body's ability to birth unassisted.  My husband keeps joking that he'll come home from work and I'll be holding our son.  Who knows :)

Take care mamas!

Hey mama! Glad you are doing well! I am 30 weeks today, so not exactly due soon yet.

Sounds like you're doing great!  I'm 28 weeks and about it get into gear.  Actually just started taking a bellydance workshop - feels amazing!!  Working on class 1 hypnobabies; have already done some listening to scripts.  They help me a LOT!  Prenatal yoga classes don't fit my schedule, but I'm making due at home.  What are some of your fave 3rd trimester poses?

Hello mama to be. Being drawn to the back bedroom and bathroom is totally normal, both instinctively and also practically (convenient to have the use of the bathroom nearby the room that is coziest and most restful).  You sound like you are REALLY getting in tune with UC and yourself. If you stay on this path, I honestly think you are going to UC this baby. Best wishes to you, mama.

I agree. I usually pretty much or always stay in my room during labor.

I've got the same due date as you, Anna. I think you sound like you'll more than likely be a UCer in the end. And I also agree with the others about being drawn to the bedroom. It's a nice cozy place to hide from any distractions. I think your bedroom sounds pretty awesome though. I wish I could see all kinds of trees outside my room! :)
