We originally live in Michigan. We have city water, eat semi good foods. Grains in small amounts(high white/low whole), high fat/protein, non-organic, lots of grocery store milk for me, me and DS both eat real cheese(not processed cheese, but not raw milk cheese). No store bought meals/quick meals/junk foods. I do not buy things with artificial flavors/colors/hydrogenated oils, EXCEPT for this one type of cookie that DH likes, and it only comes made with margarine and I believe some colors and/or flavors. sometimes he might get junk if we go to my parents house or a friends house, but those instances are few and far between. I clean with baking soda and vinegar, but we use mainstream soaps(dish detergent(I hand wash), clothing detergent, bath soap, and antibacterial soaps).

I had CRAZY bad eczema on my hand back home. Lanolin application and wearing a glove to wash dishes seemed to help, and by the time we left, my hand hadn't any signs of eczema on it. It seemed related to my wedding ring(white gold). It started around my ring, and it only started when I started wearing my ring after taking it off for a long time. It spread from my ring finger to the rest of my fingers, then there was a little patch on my wrist too. If I was consistent in putting lanolin(left over lanisoh, actually) on it, it would go away until I stopped putting it on. I've had it ever since I put the ring on when I was pregnant with DS. (I had to take the ring off after a few hours because it was itching me, then I tried it again every few months, and was never able to wear it again. The eczema got worse a few months after DS was born.

DS had kinda getting bad eczema on his leg. More his ankle really. His leg felt like he always had goosebumps on it, or little prickly hairs growing. Sometimes there would be traces of blood around his ankle where his socks rubbed against it. He's had this since maybe he was 3 months old.

DS was almost 21 mo when we left. We flew to pakistan to visit with the inlaws for 5 months. This, of course, means we are living in their house.

Now, DS is 22 months old, we've been here for a little over a month, and I looked at his leg today and it was terribly scaly and traces of blood in some areas. My eczema has been gone since a day or two before we got here.

The inlaws live pretty mainstream american(only less health conscious than most mainstream americans.) There is WAY too much pollution here, they burn garbage to get rid of it(no landfill that I've ever heard of). mostly bar soaps(I don't know if they are antibacterial or if that would make a difference?) and laundry soap is pretty much the same as back home. I also don't wash dishes here(but I do hand wash clothing-I used to use the washing machine back home) All of their dishes that are not heavy glass are melamine, and they go in the microwave. The pots they use to cook in are non-stick with the coating scraped off in many places, or burned and flaking in the case of the griddle(that the bread gets made on)(ok, just had to vent about that last part, I don't think that would have such quick effects.)

They wont stop giving DS junk. Juice with added flavor and color, milk with the same, cakes and cookies with the same, plus sugar(white sugar, we use raw at home) and margarine, instead of the bread being mostly white, its mostly whole wheat. But, all of the veggies are practically organic(I was told they don't use chemicals on them anyhow).

I think the solution for DS might be the fake foods. A solution for me might be the dish soap, or maybe to stop drinking milk(I don't drink it here).

Anybody see any other things that might be causing it? I'd like any ideas that you've got ;)

and, by the way, I put some un-petroleum jelly on DS's legs, I'll have to see if it's any better in the morning.
