4 month old - possible ear infection - oil of oregano?

My four month old is particularly fussy today, and when snuggling her I noticed that one of her ears smells bad. This is a sign of an ear infection, right? Is it advisable that I should put some diluted oil of oregano on her outer ear as a precautionary measure? She has no other symptoms, and none of our family members are ill.

Why oil of oregano? I would do garlic mullein oil. I wouldn't dilute it

Breastmilk.  That's my first line of defense, breastmilk in the ear and around the outer ear.

No other reason than that a friend of mine used it for her ear infection. Never heard of garlic mullein... I'll have to check that out.

I'll try breast milk in the mean time!
