What did you use for a scale?

I saw that too, I'd like to get something like that too but not for that price. I see a lot of digital hanging  luggage scales on ebay for really cheap wonder if that would work?

We used a fish scale we bought at Wal-Mart!! We tied a receiving blanket to it, weighed that, then laid Orin in it and weighed it, then deducted the wait of the receiving blanket. He ate a few times, and when we got to the hospital to have the placenta removed, they weighed him, and he was an oz heavier than what our fish scale said... probably all that breastmilk he'd been sucking down :)

I was looking at that one on amazon too! I was tempted to purchase it but I don't really think I would use it more than a couple times so... I think I'll shop around for a bit and hopefully make up my mind by the end of the month. I'd like to get all my supplies in order by then because I'm gonna be doing a lot of traveling over the next few months :)

I have a cheaper idea, unless extreme accuracy matters. 

I or hubby will weigh ourselves then we will hold the baby and weigh ourselves again. (twice for each weight to make sure)

My scale does increments of 0.2 so I figure, close enough. And my scale cost maybe 20 or less dollars at walmart or if you already have a scale. I'd be fine with 0.5 increments. I'm not terribly picky. :)

Day, I think that's a great idea, but some math will be required if you want the ounces, since you'll have to convert tenths of a pound into ounces. That's what we were going to do if we gave birth before the scale arrived in the mail. :)

We're using a luggage scale.  The only fish scale at walmart was much too fancy ($$$) and several student midwives I know have been using luggage scales.  I just checked the accuracy when I got home and now it's ready to go.  The nice thing is the one we bought holds the number for so long so you don't have to worry about moving or losing it.

I've been eyeballing the luggage scales...do they show you the lbs and ounces?

I'm hoping to buy one of the midwife hanging scales, but I'm wondering if we can find a way to use our postage scale

We have a postage scale too that I also use to weight myself it holds up to 500lbs and I was thinking I could stand on it with the baby and do it that way but my scale doesn't do the ounces it will only do a .5 for the oz and I have to have the exact weight! LOL

The one we bought does!  I insisted on getting a lbs & ounces one because I didn't want to do conversions.  Priorities or something like that right?  ;)

We used a digital fish scale w/ my first planned UC, then I bought a used baby scale that weighs accurate to the half ounce. I preferred the baby scale.
