Help me understand implantation bleeding

So, I haven't been on MDC in a long time. My son is 7 now and I am TTC. I'm nearly 40, so I'm getting anxious about it. Anyway, I had my period the last week of March. Then a couple of days later, I had spotting and cramping off and on for a couple of days, which never happens. Then today, nearly 2 weeks after the start of my last period, I am bleeding again. If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was the start of my period. So, the hopeful me is wondering if that is implantation bleeding, but maybe that's not even possible. Can someone help me sort this out? I'd be forever grateful.

Thanks!

From what I understand, implantation bleeding is not red blood, but brown. I have also been told that implantation bleeding is quite rare, but I don't know for sure. What does yours look like?

It's been quite a few years since I was TTC (saw this on the main page), but my implantation bleeding was not like the start of a period.  It was very minimal in amount and brownish in color.

Thanks for writing, mamas. It is reddish brown. It hasn't been like a regular period. That week after my period ended, it was brownish and almost tissue-y and spotty. I was crampy then too. Today it's probably reddish brown, but flowing more. I don't need a pad yet, but it comes out when I go to the bathroom. Sorry, that's probably TMI but I'm just trying to sort it out. I am fully aware that I'm prone to being overly hopeful about TTC, but I am curious this time since my body is acting differently than usual.

Implantation bleeding would happen about 7-10 days after ovulation, so the bleeding after your period definitely wouldn't be it. Theoretically the second bleed could be implantation, but that would be a really short pre-ovulatory phase. Do you know when you ovulated?

I'm all off cycle. I used to know. I had all my data in my iphone and it broke. I'll go back and try to see if I can sort out when I would have ovulated. I guess it was probably in that 7 - 10 days ago range though. Of course, with the first bleeding post period, which was very strange, it surely is possible that this 2nd bleed is an indication that something's wrong or off with my body. I don't know and it's making me a bit crazy. What a wild month. Can I just say that I want to be pregnant!!!!

I had implantation bleeding at what I think was about 5 and 6 DPO (although I didn't chart that cycle very well so O date could be a day or two earlier).  It was very sparse, just a couple smears on each day, and it was creamy light brown.  There was noticable cramping that continued even after the bleeding stopped.

I don't know what to make of your bleeding.  If it stops, take a test.

Not entirely on the subject, but I've been using fertility friend and it works pretty well on my iPhone. Not an app, but their mobile site is easy to navigate.
