Do I really need a cheese drawer? Please share your fridge organization tips

Does a cheese drawer really accomplish anything? Am I better off just storing cheese on a fridge shelf? Please advise. What works for you?

I don't know if they actually work or not as far as keeping cheese any longer.  I think it's more of a convenience spot to put smaller items.  I use mine to store cheese,  lunch meats, packages of butter, extra boxes of cream cheese.  All the little types of things that I don't want stacked up or floating around the fridge.  I also use it to throw packages of soy sauce, and dipping sauces we get when we eat out in the off chance we might use them for something else.

I've heard that wrapping cheese in aluminum foil deters mold.  We don't generally have cheese linger for that long.  We keep it in the drawer for convenience just because of size.  Older fridges (or maybe cheaper fridges, the kind we have, at any rate) just had racks, not glass shelves and little things would fall through.  I thinks that why they started making a deli drawer for meats and cheeses.  That and to save space since they don't need a lot of height.
