Transient Erythroblastopenia of Childhood

Thread Starter

My daughter was diagnosed with Transient Erythroblastopenia of Childhood (TEC) this week and I am hoping to find others who have experience with this blood disorder.  If at all interested in Bridget's story you can read it here:http://www.mothering.com/community/forum/thread/1307642/rare-blood-disorder-tec-anemia  It is a VERY long post.  I'd like to get some information from other families to compare notes.  The doctors don't know very much about it and while her prognosis is full recovery I really don't like not knowing what caused this to happen.  I may never know but talking to others who have been through it would make me feel better.

My son was diagnosed with it when he was about 20 months old. We finally had his tonsils out when he was barely four and I could count on two hands how many times he has been sick since. He is nine now.

I just stubbled upon this post, and I am glad that it was a while ago and is now in your past.  My daughter had this 11 years ago and it was a horrible, stressful time.  Today she is a beautiful, strong, smart, sweet and confident 13-yr old who recently took first place in PA State gymnastics on beam, and third all-around.  I often think that it was this sickness that gave her an awesome fighting and determined spirit.  She doesn't give up!  I pray your family is fine.
