Has anyone had one of these? If so, what was it like and did the doc find anything?

Hi! Â I have had a HSG. Â I had to go to the hospital radiology department to have mine done as an outpatient. Â Basically, it was kind of like a pap smear, but it took a little longer and it was a little painful. Â The painful part didn't last long at all (maybe, 8 seconds) and once it was over, it was over - Â I didn't have any lingering pain or anything. Â I had a blocked tube, and the HSG cleared it out, so the doc said that is why it hurt. Â The whole procedure took about 20 minutes. Â You don't have to have an IV or anything. Â Once it was finished, I went to the bathroom, most of the contrast dye came out (it was clear and oily feeling), I put on a pad to protect my clothes, and I went home. Â Oh, I could watch the dye going through my uterus and tubes in real time on the screen, so that was interesting. Â

A friend of mine had one of those and she said it was incredibly painful. She talked about it on her blog here:Â http://theprettysmitties.wordpress.com/2011/03/19/infertility/
