9 years of nursing come to a bittersweet end

My baby (3.5 yrs) hasn't nursed in over a week, and when I've offered he's refused. So I guess we're done. I have nursed 3 kids, tandem nursed two of them for 1.5 yrs, and each one has come to their own weaning on their own time. I guess I'm ready to turn 40 now (this summer)! On to a new season...

Wow, I just realized when I read this, that at 46, I have been pregnant or nursing for almost 8 years. My 4 year old is almost ready to be done.

Lots of hugs.  I have three that still haven't weaned and am bracing myself for it.  Letting them close that chapter makes it so sweet and poignant.  You have done such a marvelous job, mama!
