Now with the warm weather . . . .

Well, ok, it was only warm here the one day, but it got me thinking about sun protection. Sunscreen - do you use it? What are the criteria - if your LO is out in the sun for ten minutes, twenty, half an hour? Does it depend on the time of day? Do you put it everywhere, or only on exposed skin like the face, or do you depend on a sun hat instead? Do you use special clothes with spf, or feel that your LO's regular clothing is protection enough?  If you are using a lotion, what kind do you use? Is there any one brand you feel is safer in terms of ingredients? (<That's a big one.)

DH's mom had malignant melanoma (of the scary, aggressive, she's lucky to be alive variety), so this is a particularly big concern for our family. Please pardon my long list of questions, but I'd love to know your thoughts on the subject!

We are in AZ - lots of sun! We got our LO a sun hat with a large brim and the back hangs down to cover her neck. We also have a lightweight UPF blanket that can tie onto the Ergo or over the stroller to block the sun.

We don't use sunscreen yet because she is under 6 months. If we do, we will look for a natural, non-toxic sunscreen. I would only put it on exposed parts. I wouldn't put it on her face if she has the sun hat on.

We do go out in the sun, but before 10 or after 3 for a little bit of sun on her skin for about 15 minutes. I do believe that our bodies need some sunlight to be healthy.

I found this brand that is supposed to be very safe and free of toxins http://www.lovingnaturals.com/#!product
