Birth Center at the Morris Heights Health Center, Bronx

Hello

I am trying to switch to a birth center, and I've just recently heard about this b/c at Morris Heights. I don't know anyone personally who has given birth there or used that facility.

Does anyone here used this birth center? Knows anything about it? Good? Bad?

Please let me know if you have any info/recommendation?

I know someone who had a very good birth experience there last year with her first baby. She said she would happily birth there again. However, she was one of the few that actually gave birth there - the midwives told her that most of the clients end up choosing to go to the hospital for the actual birth. That has more to do with the fact that the center serves mostly local women from the neighbourhood, who are not particularly dedicated to natural/alternative birth, though... not because they get risked out. Anyway, it is definitely worth checking out.

I have given birth twice at the child bearing center and 3 times at a hospital. I can honestly say the child bearing center was a better experience. There a level of comfort an d being able to have my children in the room was a great experience for all of us. It was calm and relaxing. Your in a room that feels like your home you can relax in a hot tub and the warm water could sooth your pain, Theres a kitchen so your family can eat and relax while you wait. And its great to know that if needed they can rush you to the nearest hospital. The midwives are awesome and my experience was wonderful both times. I am considering having another baby this year and that will definately be the place I give birth again. Hope this helps.
