CD friendly clothing? aka fitting the bigger bottom...

We're running into a bunch of problems with our son just finding clothing that will fit the bulk of a CD without being huge on the top/legs.  For example, he fits great in Carter's cotton pants but the ones that fit the diapers are like 2-3" too long for him!  Has anyone in their experience found certain brands to be more forgiving to fit the thicker diapers than others?  FWIW, we're BG AIO and FB users and our son is just about 7 mos.  Thanks!

Its pretty normal for baby pants to be too long. FWIW my kid is currently wearing 12-18mo Carters (the same size he wore at 8mo old in diapers) now that he's potty trained and he is almost 2...and the length is just right.

Speesees makes wonderful big-bottom pants. My kid pretty much lived in Carters though.

I have found Hanna Andersson Wiggle Pants great for cloth. They have plenty of room in the "bum" and have little adjustable cuffs so that the length is ultimately up to you. I think they are about $15 regular price, but HA has good online sales from time to time (I picked up my DC's pants for $6 each), and the clothes are sized to fit for a while -- 10-24 months is one size, for example.

A friend of mine likes Oshkosh for width without extra length.

HTH!

CD not withstanding, DS is a lean, tall guy. I have him in overalls and rompers (one piece things with legs - either short or long depending on the season) quite often so I can get the length I need without being too big in the waist. I find CD actually helps keep the pants that he needs in length stay up since they fill out the bottom :)

Brand wise . . . I haven't found much that I can't manage with my CD's. we use a variety of pockets, from BG to knickernappies. Pajamas are the most difficult since most are designed to fit snugly. Winter time we do zip up fleece sleepers. I think as the weather warms, he may just be sleeping in a t-shirt and diaper.

DS more or less lives in Carter's leggings (the 2-packs). While they're not the most stylish thing on the market, they're incredibly practical - nice and stretchy to accommodate a fluffy bum, but you can roll up the cuffs. He's a new walker, so I want to be very careful about pants in the way of his feet. They're about the only piece of his clothing that I buy new, because I've never seen them on consignment.

Those leggings sound perfect- where do you find them?  Now that the weather is turning nicer we're using more BabyLegs, too.

You can find them at Carter's Outlet stores if you have any near to you. And they are very cheap too! I think if you go to the Carter's website you can also sign up to get coupons mailed to your house (which are usually 20% off if you spend $50).

They are so perfect that after posting to this thread yesterday, I dropped in at our store and picked up some more this morning while running errands ;) Carters only came to Canada a couple of years ago, and I have to say I'm a fan - not sure of their ethics, but their clothes are very practical! Now if only Hanna Andersson would come up here! BabyLegs are great too - we usually start the day in BabyLegs when DH has to pee a lot - very useful for a little guy who HATES being changed - I can do an upright change easily in BLs!

I just bought a bunch of the Carters leggings from the outlet, as well as some onesies and one-piece outfits.  BUY BIG!  My DS just completely outgrew all of his 12 month sizes, so I bought 18 months.  They fit perfectly - I actually could have gone for some things in 24 months.

I am done buying woven pants for this chubby, CD'd baby.  DH complains about the baby wearing "sweats" all the time, but I hate trying to stuff him into cords or something and then still have to roll up six inches of pant leg.

ETA:  It was much easier with DD - she was tiny, so she needed the CDs to hold her pants up.  lol.gif

Babylegs!!!  Baby legwarmers have been awesome for DD for exactly this reason!  :-)

Also, when we want Cady to wear some cute pants, but not look ridiculous, we just put her in her GroVia dipes, since they're quite a bit trimmer.

Other than that, we've been cuff-rolling.

Also, I've found onesie extenders invaluable for extending (ha, no pun intended) the life of her onesies that don't fit in length because of her dipe, but still fit her in the arms and shoulders (and belly/chest).

I think it depends on your baby's build.  My DD has narrow hips and a small bum and longer legs, so the extra fluff from the diapers is great, helps her fit into the pants that are the right length ;)  Guess I got lucky.  IMO- carters runs narrow and long, so it you have a shorter and wider baby with a fluffy bum their pants might be too long in order to fit the diaper.  The 2 pack cotton pants are some our favorites, comfy and they wear really well.  The Children's place  and Gymboree also seem to run small/narrow to me when buying jeans or structured pants, but their leggings are great and very forgiving since they are stretchy.  What about Old Navy?  They have a lot of cotton clothes and baby sweat pants and I don't find them to run long like Carters.  I find some of the cheaper Kohls, Sears, and Walmart brands to run wider and shorter.
