tjjazzy - Congrats on being able to see your little one today!

So, I think I may have felt a kick today, my first!  It was a couple inches below my belly button, and it felt like a little thump from the inside, if that makes sense.  I haven't felt anything since... and I'm still not sure if that's what it was.

Yay, it is so nice to feel baby.  I have been feeling her all day.  love.gif

I had written this big long post about my OB and it wouldn't let me post it.  Said I didn't have permission too.  orngtongue.gif

Anyway, I was just sayin' how much I love my midwife and how much my back-up OB stinks.  He's so worried about me gaining too much weight, my mw said he says that to a lot of moms that go to him under her care.  I've gained over 25lbs since the beginning of this pregnancy and I know its mostly because of being on insulin again.  Before when I was on it, it was very hard to lose weight at all.  Insulin turns glucose straight into fat.  This is the heaviest I've ever been in my life.  My mw says don't worry about your weight just as long as baby and mom are fine, no worries.  My blood sugar is fine and I've been exercising a lot more lately and I only eat whole grains except for when me and dh go for an ice cream at the local dairy on Saturdays where they make it with real sugar instead of HFCS.  So, I'm doing my best and that's all I can do.  I also have argued with him both times I've had appt's.  I'm just glad I don't have to see him until 34 weeks and that's it.  He wants me to come in every week from then on and get an u/s, but he is wrong.  If baby is at a good weight then, I don't think 6 weeks is going to make baby grow super fast or something.  He drives me batty, but he's the only one I can go to, so I just fight him all the way.  Oh well.

So what do you all think.  When I go to storage, should I get the baby clothes out???  I think I want to and start washing them.  Is it too early to wash?  Maybe I should just pick out the 1st 3months worth of clothes.  Oh, I am so excited!!!  Then maybe in a month or two I should get the next two sizes up just so I can see what I have that is more neutral.  joy.gifjoy.gifjoy.gif

Cathy - If I were you, I'd have to start digging through the old baby clothes to see what's there - that sounds like fun!  Baby clothes are so much fun.   Sorry you have an annoying OB, but at least you don't have to see him often.  Your MW sounds pretty cool, though, so that's good.

Heh.  I am at the moment trying to talk dh into going to storage before work tomorrow.  orngtongue.gif  I love that I can e-mail him at work.

Val- Yay for being able to feel baby!  I think I have felt a few little kicks or something too, but it is so faint and over before I really even notice it happening!!!  lol

Cathy Congrats on a girl!!  Sooo exciting!!!  (I don't know if I already said congrats)  I have been getting that urge to start getting the baby clothes out and the carriers, and the diapers and start filling the dresser for the baby.  I guess now that we are approaching the half way mark it is starting to get exciting, and maybe more real.

tjjazy - hope you are able to find out if thats what you decide you want!  lol

I have been noticing some braxton hicks tonight, which is kind of neato.   Did I mention I found a midwife closer to home (like 10 minutes vs. 50 minutes drive time), and might be able to do a home birth  if everything looks good with this babe?!  I am getting pretty excited about it.  I wasn't too worried at the beginning of the pregnancy but the more I think about it the more I want to be able to have this baby in my own house, and climb right into my own bed with babe :D

Cathy - Hope you were able to talk DH into going to storage and that you can spend the day rummaging through baby clothes.  :)

Liz - That's great about the MW and the possibility of home birth!  I hope everything works out for you.  And yay for thinking you might be feeling movements too.  I know what you mean about it being over before you notice it's happening.  I think if I had been doing something besides sitting at a stop light in the car, I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it.  I just hope we both get to feel some more distinct and frequent movements in the very near future!

I'm in a wedding this weekend, and I haven't tried on the dress in about a week.  It fit last week, but my belly seems to have grown more since then - I can now barely zip the jeans I wore over the weekend, and they are uncomfortable even with the belly band.  Luckily the dress is A-line, so it has some extra belly room anyway.

Speaking of clothes - has anyone worn Old Navy maternity clothes?  I'm thinking of ordering some online, and was just curious about what size to order.  At Motherhood and JC Penney I seem to be a medium in maternity clothes, just wondering if Old Navy sizing runs about the same.  Geez, I wish they'd have some clothes in the store - it would make life so much simpler!

Val - re: ON:  I usually check the reviews to see what other people who have already bought the item think.  I'm 5'7 and take a size 6 in regular life so I should buy small in ON but I usually buy M so I can have extra room.  Nothing worse than being big and pregnant and your clothes are too tight.

Yep, got everything and more out of storage this am.  Very cool of dh.  love.gif  Boy are those 0-3 month tiny.  I think my ds lasted 10 days in them. lol.gif  Hopefully this one will last a bit longer.

I love old navy maternity, but this pregnancy I've gained so much so fast that I'm in the M and L instead of S and most of my clothes from ds's pregnancy are too small, so if your gaining more than 30lbs this pregnancy total I would go up a size than they say.

i find motherhood stuff fits small. i love old navy :) i THINK (but don't remember for Maternity stuff but i know for regular sizing) i just buy the size i always wear or one size up for ON maternity (but not for regular stuff cuz then it's too big!)

Thanks for all the answers on ON Maternity clothes... I still haven't brought myself to order anything.  I hate buying stuff online and having it not fit.  Instead, I went to JC Penney today and was able to find some capris and shirts on sale.  I didn't buy much, but I'm making progress.

i agree. unless you KNOW the brand, it is more difficult to order stuff online. you can send it back if you don't like it but that's disappointing!

I always /want/ to like Motherhood but I'm generally disappointed... they're a brand I only buy "in person" now since I've sent so much stuff back because of fit (like, I'll order to shirts... same size, same style, even the same color... but one will fit fine and the other wont).  I find ON to be more consistant, and In Due Time to be pretty uniform too, but I agree that especially when pregnant nothing beats being able to try on an item.  I remember being shocked at how other body parts changed... it wasn't 'just' that I added a belly like the "faux bump" thing they have in maternity shop changing rooms.  LOL

I can feel the babe a lot more now, especially when I'm nursing DS.  I think that having Ds's weight on my lap and the sort of "folded" posture I'm in (we nurse in an IKEA poang chair) sort of pushes on the babe and makes the thumping easier to feel.  But I'm really looking forward to feeling the babe more steadily... though I know I'll be complaining about bruises in a few months!

I've been buying size large Motherhood shirts because they always end up too SHORT for me! I hate that! I bought some mediums at ON but the other day I went and bought larges. I've already gained 30 lbs :( So nothing much fits me right now. I'm 5'7" and usually a size 8 or so pre-preg so none of my clothes will be even CLOSE to fitting me after I have the baby, I guess I can wear my "smaller" maternity clothes then lol...

Cathy (and another other NC ladies) - I hope you survived the storms okay this weekend.  I was near Raleigh for the weekend, so I know it was pretty nasty.  Not sure how it was in your area, but just hope all is okay with you and yours.

Question - Has anyone had any issues with dizziness/nearly fainting?  It's happened to me twice - once at a church service the required a lot of standing, and again this weekend when I was a bridesmaid in a wedding.  I actually had to leave the room for part of the wedding, because if I had stayed I knew I would end up on the floor.  I think it was a perfect storm of not eating for six hours, standing too long, stress (the wedding had just been interrupted for a tornado), and heat (no AC and candlelight due to lack of power).  DH is concerned and thinks I should call the nurse... from everything I've read, it's pretty normal due to hormonal changes, lower blood pressure, etc. and is just something that I should discuss at my next appointment (next week).  Any thoughts on the topic?  Has it happened to you?

That was some crazy weather you guys had.  Hope everyone is well.

Re: the fainting and dizziness...  I tend to have low blood pressure, even more so during pregnancy, but it hasn't happened to me.  But I think that it's not uncommon to pregnant women.  My sister once fainted during mass in SC.  She was 11 and decidedly not pregnant :)  But the other stuff you mentioned applied.  So yes - I think that you did have all the right ingredients.  But you can always put a call in and make your husband feel better.  I bet that would be scary for him to see.

We are good, it was a pretty fantastic storm, but man did it clear up and get sunny quick.
