Hi! If you still have any water kefir grains to share, I'd love to get some from you... I can pay up to $8. I've been making it here for the past 2+ weeks and it's *amazing*, don't know what I'd do without it now. Esp since I suffer from inherited tendency toward depressed brain chemistry, ADD etc. It helps with that a ton! Please let me know if I can send you a money order or anything.
The grains I got were mistreated b4 I got them so were weak and small, then I put juice and fresh fruits in them, which makes an incredible beverage, but it kills the grains slowly (enzymes). So I need to start over with a new batch and only make juice kefir with batches of extra grains I can spare after they multiply (I'll call them "kamikaze" grains :). I live in Asheville, NC, and just joined this site. I don't have kids but am "mother" to many at every opportunity since I live in a small intentional community, and I couldn't give birth or adopt as was my fondest dream (wanted to have 2-3 kids and adopt 2-3, but health issues nixed that sadly... hope I haven't broken any rule by joining here).
And if anyone needs info on making water kefir, my mistakes and scientific background have caused me to learn quickly, so I may be able to share good info or direct you to good links. I also have made kombucha successfully for a year, and have plenty of scobys to freely and inexpensively share if they can get thru the mail safely (maybe $3+ would cover a box-shipping so they are insulated well?)... and I use kombucha vinegar for many things, cooking, salad dressing, housecleaning, mold prevention, personal deoderant (*amazing*), softening/exfoliating facial toner/astringent/cleanser, and foot spray. I've been into natural living for decades and am happy to share any info I have w anyone.
